Fortunate Indeed . . .

I am very fortunate
to have inherited my mothers
Alpine Syracuse China
and her silver.

and to have my
Chevy-Chase Syracuse China
and
 Old Lace Silver

I am also fortunate to have
my mother in laws
very old
Emerald Fostoria Goblets
beautiful linens
and my
Waterford Crystal

Very Fortunate Indeed
yet
I seldom use them any more.

instead I set a pleasant table
using stem less wine glasses
stoneware dinner ware and stainless steel cutlery.

  My finery abounds
and yet the
two most favorite
utensil pieces in my possession,
are these two spoons.

I don't know the brand
although I do remember
where they came from.

I guard them carefully.
They are best for stirring and not for ice cream scooping.

I remember the hands that stirred with them.
I remember the many meals cooked for me and my family.
Each time I pick them up to use them I remember my mother.

I remembered her today
as I made
Blueberry Pancakes
Special Eggs
Fruit
for our
Sunday Brunch

My mom was a special lady.
I miss her.

Love
Lynne

I have a few things from my mum's kitchen, and now that she no longer cooks, they bring her right into the work space with me. I remember her asking 'now why would you want that old thing'......because it makes me think of you, Mum.

Dearest Lynne, These memories are close to my heart each day too, as I use the things my Mom used. What would you give for one more moment, to hear her laugh or her warm embrace? ... Beautiful post my friend. Love, Penny

It's funny how, as we get older, our "favorites" change..I had all the china, sterling and crystal..gave it all to B....My favorite kitchen knives are old, hand made wooden handle ones that my grandmother used..Hmm..good post topic..I also use her sterling as everyday flatware.
