Scherenschnitte . . . . .

SCHERENSCHNITTE
or also known as
scissors cutting
and
paper cutting
~
The tradition was brought from
Southern Germany and Switzerland
and transplanted to this country
by immigrants settling in Pennsylvania.

My mother began her first cuttings in the early sixties.
I have several of her earliest cuttings
which I hang in the paned windows
 of our home at Christmas.
~
Enjoy just a few of her
parchment paper cuttings below.

I cut my first Scherenschnitte in the early eighties.
I promise to post some more photos in December.
~
My mom's hand cut touch is my dear treasure.

Here is a link to her every Friday video. There is a surprise half-way through and you will know who it is! Think.."Anchor"

Hello Lynne!
I love this art form! I've seen a few of these over the years and they were beautiful. Your Mom did a WONDERFUL job and what precious keepsakes for you and your family to treasure. I'm afraid I wouldn't have the patience for something like this. I'll be watching for those photo's in the future ;) I hope you're having a wonderful Labor Day weekend...
Maura :)
PS...thanks for your kind words in your comments...you made my day.
