Snowfall In Michigan . . .

Finally a typical Michgian snowfall arrived this past week
during the night, and into early Friday morning.
We have had dusting and a few two-three inches of snow
but this one brought five, six, seven inches and more of the beautiful white.

Gorgeous

Stunning

The winds came not long after
and blew the trees clean in a matter of minutes.

Snickers was not a happy girl,
finding "her place" in the snow is just not her thing.

The snowfall ended by noon and the birds came out to feed.
So sad about my leaning Smoke Bush Tree.
The tree is planted at the front of the house and
it is leaning so much now we will have to remove it.
Glorious in the fall, I planted it the first year I moved to my home.
Not sure what happened to cause the "lean over,"
I will miss it, not one to cut the trees, but the lean over has to go.
I do have a plan in place for the change.

The Juncos were my most faithful visitors after the snow.

The birds were as busy in the backyard as in the front.

Junco
peek a boo

The best part for me . . .
happened while I was sitting at a window in the dining room.
Looking out at the snow and up in the "leaning tree" was a Junco.
I know the photo is a bit blurry and cloudy but it is what it is.
As I moved in with the telephoto this is what I was able to capture.
Poor little bird looked cold and confused.
Spring time the day before and then this dumping of snow.
This bird sat in the tree for a good twenty minutes,
I am sure she, or he, was waiting so I could take these final shots.
How pleasant it was to watch this bird being quiet, watching, waiting and listening.
A tender reminder for me for my life.

Do you find a nose to sometimes be so cute
you just can't help but snap a picture or two . . .
I sure do,
here is the sleepy princess.
Night Night

The snow is beautiful. I like it for a while but tire of it quickly.
Great bird captures.

Beautiful snow...and Snickers is so adorable!!! Miss. Ginger has 'trouble' in the snow too, and has to stick her nose way into it to find the the perfect spot...makes for a cold nose, and speaking of noses...love the last shot!!!

A fresh snowfall gives the world a whole new aspect. We had snow here today, but it disappeared as quickly as it came. It's still pretty cold though, and will be icy. Stay warm where you are!

Such beautiful shots! Poor little Snickers...must be so much work for her plodding through the snow. I love the shot of her sweet nose!

I wonder why our birds left us? Maybe they flew over to your house? Better food?

I think you got the same snow storm we did! lol Beautiful photos. I hung out a suet cake last week and the chickadees have been coming to it. I always notice how busy they are just before a storm getting filled up then they come back when the storm is passed.
They know the weather better than the weatherman!

Hi Lynne, My favorite part of snowstorm is the quiet and the chance to slow down. A picture perfect day in my book. Enjoy my friend! love, Penny

I wonder how the wildlife copes with the sudden changes in weather. Poor birds must struggle. The snow is very beautiful. We've yet to have a real snow fall.

Lovely snowy shots. Sometimes I see old trees which are leaning and they are held up by a crutch. But, everything has its time and it's good you have plans for the site which will keep it looking beautiful.

Oh, your princess has a beautiful nose.

Fun to see all your bird photos. We've had so few birds this winter. Maybe because it's been so mild they've been able to find their own food away from my feeder.

Sorry about your Smoke Bush Tree. Sometimes the trees just have to go.

Love that sweet little nose...we have 2 shelties - one of them has a very tiny nose and our other one (the Queen Bee) has one that is mostly black but has a little slash of pink on the side.

Your picture is precious.
