We Won The Snow Count . . .

Remember
I love snow
I was convinced
we had had
 at least
twenty inches of snow or more
in the first three days of our winter storm.

Not quite

Although the story wasn't over . . .
yesterday afternoon and into the evening
we had at least a foot of snow.

So on this gorgeous crisp
blue sky day
I grabbed hubby and outdoors we went
to measure the snowfall.

One yard stick
broken off at 15 inches
it said we had about 12 inches of snow, total.

However . . .
I knew much more snow had fallen
so off we trekked into the woods
to do some measuring.

This garden bench said the same
twelve inches of snow.

No matter how I measured it . . .
the same, twelve inches

I wasn't convinced so I stuck the broken yard stick in the fire pit
and it measured almost fifteen inches.

We have kept track of our snowfall each day so here you go . . .
Sunday- 4 inches
Monday - 6 inches
Tuesday - 6 inches
Wednesday Morning - 6 inches
Wednesday afternoon - 8 inches
Wednesday night at 10:30
when we shoveled for the third time . . .
two more inches.
I think that adds up to
32 inches
in
four days!

I have been known to stretch things just a bit.
But not this time!

I want to have the most snowfall totals of any one in the family.
It is often a contest between us.

My son called last night and told me they had had
at least thirty inches of snow
and the kids
were out shoveling off the roof.
NOT  NADDA  NOT

See, he has that wanting to have the most thingy too.
I wonder who he got that  from.

He was just playing with me,
they only got three inches of snow
and they live thirty minutes away from us.

We benefit from the lake affect
and
finally
this time we got
SNOW

So this time,
 we were the
snow total winners
in the family.

The final picture was taken in the woods
looking at the back of the house.
Jack snapped a few pics of his recycled art sculptures too.

You'll see the
Irish Garden House
Mr IGH built for me on the left.
A replica of the garden house in Ireland
is in the corner of my header.
More snow predicted for tonight.
Warmer weather on the way
with rain in the forecast.

We are enjoying the beauty while we can!

Yes. You officially won the snow award. Isn't it beautiful? Such cute pictures of you in the snow. I just came back inside from snapping a few more pictures of our back woods. I got home early from work to be outside before dusk. We're hoping to clear off the backyard ice rink and get in some skating after dinner.

You're so darn cute!

Well, of course, Lynne, you are the clear winner. It packs so you have to measure daily like you did. Does Jack have a story of the fish that got away?

SO beautiful we have had none so far, well I take that back we had one day of a half inch of mushy stuff nothing one would want to play or walk in.

Love the look of your blog! Such a clean and fresh look. All the snow you are getting is a good thing. We are supposed to have a small amount on the way tomorrow... just so it doesn't come until afternoon since I need to be somewhere late morning.

Oh, and YOU my dear are looking quite lovely these days. :)

Hello Lynne:
Although we always feel desperately sorry for people, largely on account of work, who are forced to go out in the snow, whatever the conditions [or depth!!], we, like you, simply love it and consider it to be one of the great delights of winter.

This year we have seen deep, widespread snow across Hungary in general but here in Budapest it has been fairly light and not really come to very much. We should certainly not win any competitions!

We have discovered your most entertaining blog through the comment which you left on Jessica's and have, therefore, signed as Followers.

Your snow is really beautiful! I wish we had more here. But I think it's going to be in the 50's tomorrow.
I do have several paperdolls that are cut out, and I have fun dressing them up. (yes, I know I'm an adult, but I still love to play!) I do not cut the ones that come all in one piece.

You are absolutely beautiful. I just love those photos of you out in the snow!!

How I would love to have lake effect snow, pond effect seems to be a little lacking here.

Congrats on your win! : )
