Crocosmia . . .

soon
very soon
colors will return

after the winter
comes the spring

croscosmia
discovered
in ireland in
nineteen ninety eight

one tiny little frond
tucked inside my bag
replanted

and now it blooms
here and there
in my gardens

Lynne, it is a beautiful flower. Look tropical to me, it must be a hardy plant. Lovely images! I am patiently waiting to see some color in my yard. Snow Day today, I am staying home. Wishing you a happy day!

You snuck plant material through customs...how brave of you! It's quite lovely. I can't wait to see any sign of Spring.

I love crocosmia...

The first day our our trip to New Zealand we spent in a park...masses and masses of the yellow bulb naturalized through the grass. Stunning...

That is gorgeous. I've never seen it before, never been to Ireland. I would never have guessed YOU were a customs rebel! (BTW, I just posted something Irish!)

How wonderful that your crocosmia's out already Lynne...so lucky!Just the leaves are out around our neck of the woods. But we do have some daff's starting to peak out...so ready for spring!

Ginger says thank you for the well wishes (and so do I)...she's trying to sneak a treat as we speak...she thinks she can just act as if nothing happened, sweet, silly girl!

You rebel you! But it was worth the risk of being held in one of those little rooms by the Customs cops.

Beautiful!

And I chuckled at your Mrs. Pheasant comment. From the mouthes of babes... :)

How utterly lovely to have living, growing memory of Ireland... and to think it survived the trip tucked inside your bag! That is a real treasure.

I was in Ireland about 10 years ago and one of the things I loved and noticed was how much Crocosmia just seemed to grow wild. I have been in love with it every since.
