Rockefeller Center and . . .

First day/evening in the city
we took off for
Barnes and Noble to find
a tour book we neglected to purchase while at home.
Darn, I hate it when that happens.

Jack was pulling me through the crowds,
in and out of this block and that
but we found the store and the book.
 Yay!

I thought I was at the United Nations or something
when I saw all the flags but then saw the ice skating rink
and knew we were at Rockefeller Center.
This was on Sunday the 13th.
We found out the next morning that the rink had just reopened.

I love seeing photos of buildings and things
but I like returning from a trip and seeing a few pictures of us too.

People are so friendly and helpful.
We had fun taking pictures of others
and asking them to take pictures of us.

The day is winding down and
from this side a view of
Central Park.

And from this corner

Top of the Rock

After Rockefeller Center and the Top of the Rock
we took off for
Times Square.

Wild to say it mildly.
I can't imagine what it must be like on
New Years Eve.
Not the best pic but if you look closely you'll see
the Times Square sign.
I think this is where the ball drops on New Years Eve..

My days blend into my evenings,
not much order to these photos.
I promise, this will be my trip picture week
and then I will move on to something else.

Isn't this lovely . . .

Can you guess where this is?

This was my feeling a bit weary day,
might have been because we had walked from the subway
through Central Park around several blocks
to arrive at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art
(five to eight miles of walking on this day)

Jack and I visited the
American Impressionists
Modern Art and Sculpture
but I was ready to sit back
and look at all the people and cultures
relax my back and feet
and take a breather.

I think that needs to be part of travel and touring too.

 Jack took off for the
Guggenheim Museum
which was much more his thing.

We make it work,
I like flowers,
he likes
architecture
and
straight lines.

More pictures tomorrow.
Love, Lynne

Ah, the last post. Brings back lots of memories. I loved Times Square. Our hotel was right there so we got to see it live every time we stepped out. Did you see yourself on the jumbotron? As we were there before Thanksgiving all the stores were decked out for Christmas already. The tree was hiding behind staging in Rockefeller Park so I watched the tree lighting on TV at my neighbours. :) I enjoyed all these posts. Thanks for sharing your NYC trip with us Lynne!

It looks like you had a wonderful time. My brother works at Times Square...the busyness of it drives him mad.

We didn't go to any museums this trip so I am jealous of you, but have something to look forward to on the next trip :-) Your pictures from the Top of the Rock are beautiful!

Welcome home! Looks like you covered a lot of ground. I grew up in NJ, just outside of New York City and love seeing the pictures. Xoxo

I used to watch the Today show a lot and they would have ice skating performances on their morning show from there. Totally makes me want to have NBC on our television choices again... but I digress.... You two had such a good time... I can tell by the photos.
