A Day For A Mommy To Be . . .

The baby shower was yesterday and if I may say, it was wonderful,
except for the weather which was very cold,
with icy spots and snow showers . . . some things never change.
I tried to be sparingly with my words and instead I loaded this with pictures.
I enjoyed making flower arrangements for the tables.
Daughter Suzie's idea for the decorations. . . tissue ball making made for a fun day.
Arranging the hall to accommodate forty people made for a challenge.
One of Alena's favorite Tinkerbell sayings was made into a print.

coffee corner
Lime green plates for luncheon foods also held a chocolate covered strawberry.
We carried the pink, green and white theme out big time.
Alena made the letters into the baby's name to surprise everyone.
Great granny Lynne and granny to be Suzie made the chicken salad & fruit kabobs.
Great grandmother Linda had flowers made for the food table
and had this delicious olive tomato mozzarella cheese bruschetta tray made too.
fruit punch for adults and one for the younger set
candy sweets and chocolate/white chocolate covered pretzels
 Oakland's mommy to be, Alena
Alena admiring her cake and cupcakes, thanks to her mom.
 people began to arrive
More people arriving and my daughter, soon to be granny Suzie, taking pictures.
Alena and her mom, soon to be granny, Amy.
gift opening made for the best pictures
Alena was so appreciative and gracious
she was surprised and stunned by all she received
 one happy thankful mommy

The shower was a family affair
and we had a grand time planning and making it happen.

Grandson Tyler, soon to be daddy, hoped to stop in to be with Alena
at the end of the day but was unexpectantly scheduled to work.

Before I forget, a thank you to Marg and Chloe for helping with the games.

Baby Oakland is due in another month.
Although Tyler was not able to join us afterwards,
his dad and brother, some of his aunts, many of his cousins,
grandpa and some of Alena's family
stopped by to help with the clean up.

Sometimes when the party is over
and the clean up begins it makes for
one more great time.

Exactly what happened at the end of this day.
Everyone was there . . . we all were relaxed and silly
and moved the chairs and tables
plus made sure those township hall flags were all back in place.

This final photo is one of my favorites
Alena's friends having a tummy touch.

This past week has caused me to miss out on each of you
and what is happening in your world
I promise to catch up soon
Be well my friends,
Love, Lynne

This shower looks delightful with all the flowers and yummy food. This is my first visit here; I grew up in Wisconsin, like you, and live in California now.

Oh WOW Lynne ….. that looks brilliant . I'm sure that a lot of hard work went into that.
Our son and daughter-in-law are expecting their 2nd child in June so, a lot of excitement around here too. We don't really have baby showers over here although some do it, I thnk.
I'm sorry that you are still in the depths of Winter …..I think that we've been lucky this year as far as snow is concerned ….none so far but, I've known snow in May !! XXXX

I loved seeing all of the pictures..and I was right..I did miss the day of the shower..but then you didn't have any pictures up anyway..right?? :) The best was to see the picture of you. I love to see pictures of my blogger friends and most don't post them very often!
This was a great one of you!
Everything was beautiful! Those tulips were gorgeous and the color theme is two of my favorite colors together. Everything was lovely!
Doing a shower for that many people is a huge undertaking.
Big hugs,
Mona

What a wonderful shower and beautiful "Mommy and bump"! You gals did a great job on the decor and food! I may borrow your fruit kabob idea for an informal dinner with friends this weekend. We're all supposed to bring something to share.

Dear great grandma Lynne, What a beautiful celebration! The flowers and decorations, food and friends...you've been so busy! Everything looked so lovely. Alena just glows, is there anything prettier than a mom to be? There is also that crazy good looking great granny. ;-). Oakland is a very lucky baby. Love, Penny
