are you enjoying the getting ready
and does yours start out with chaos, like mine
do you touch each treasure you pull out of the box and reflect, remember
do you enjoy fresh greens in the house
candles
nativity
I am thankful for my moms treasures . . .
for loving me
teaching me
wishing, wishing, wishing
my mom . . .and dad were still here.
The season brings back many memories.
My sad/sweet santa memory was when I was about seven or eight.
I remember the sound of sleigh bells, thinking it was santa
and my dad walked through the door.
That's when I found out santas
don't always wear red suits
.
. . . I hear sleigh bells . . .
memories sometimes stir me up
reminding me that life isn't always perfect
encouraging me to just ride the twists and turns
and to remember
joy rings out its return
happy days my friends
I will be back soon
with the tree trimmed
boxes/bins put away
how about you, trimmed and festive?
~
Love, Lynne

I've gone thru several days in a row, sad and on the verge of tears all day long because I am missing my mama and daddy. The season, for only a few days, takes me back and makes me a little girl again...needing her mama. Then, I start pulling out boxes and tubs and get my big girl panties on and get on with life.
I finished my mantel tonight and just love it. It's full of cuteness and whimsey, which is my style. I tried for years to be like most everyone else and do the elegant thing but it's just not me. Going to get fresh greens tomorrow...a party tomorrow night...and Bunco party next week. Busy time...and I love it.
I love all your decorations. It can be a very happy or sad time for people. Also A lonely time if you have no family
Lynne, you are so sweet. Love your pretty decorations.. I may put out mine this weekend if it is rainy! Have a great day and weekend ahead!
Tomorrow my mother and I will pool our decorations together and fancy up the house. Me with boxes of the memories of my children grown and gone and she with the boxes of my childhood memories...
Beautiful holiday decor! I know what you mean. My family is in Spain and although I have lived in this country for 33 years, the holidays are always so very hard for me. Have a great weekend! Maria
the holidays are always tough for me.
Very sweet post, Lynne.
It's that time of year, when we recall with fond memories, Christmas' past, and those that we shared those special events with.
Yes.. it seems that you have to make a mess, to get things organized sometimes.
Our decorating is done here, but all of the totes still need to get put away in the Christmas closet, until it is time to take down the décor.
So, do you leave your tree up until New Years?
~Warm wishes..

Yes, I know about tough holidays. Each year I think of how it was...but life goes on, and I am thankful for what and who is in my life today. And yes, my house is a disaster when I decorate, for sure!!
Since I have simplified greatly and only put up a tree, yes it is done and just enough. Too many years of working at The Apothecary Gift Shop with Christmas starting in September have made me desire simple and family Christmas is at my brother's house this year.
Wonderful post. Holiday decorating is messy and nostalgic. Each year priceless memories are unpacked and spend the holidays placed lovingly around the house and on the tree.
Lynne, A beautiful post! Christmas is all about memories....memories past and those we are making. Enjoy the season! Bonnie
A beautiful post. Christmas hugs!!!
It does get a bit more melancholy as the years go by and family members and friends are no longer with us. But as you say, "joy rings out its return." A lovely post, Lynne.
I'm a little sad this year because it is just my hubby and I and our 2 children. My aunt and uncle used to spend the day with us and they are both gone now. We miss our loved ones, but we still have a lot of fun together. We all just love Christmas!
I always play Christmas music and decorate the tree the day after Thanksgiving. What memories it brings when I look at the ornaments from my childhood, and my children's childhood. Bittersweet.
my decorating is a lot more simple; some wreaths on the gates and barn, poinsettia's on the table and that's about it. your decorating is lovely; Merry Christmas!
Thoughtful, heartfelt words from your heart. Loved this, Lynne. ~ Nancy
I feel exactly the same way this time of year, Lynne. My dad is gone and my mom is not well at all. I see her often, but she's not really here. I miss those days, but I am happy for the memories!
