We have birds keeping busy at suet in our backyard these days, but I've yet to get close enough for a photo. Such a beauty!
Enjoy your weekend, Lynne!

Aww, great shot! The birds here at our house are even waiting in the mornings for my landlord to bring out the nuts and seeds - it's so wonderful to watch them eat and play around :) Have a an amazing weekend! :)

PS..I thought it was a Woodpecker as well but got corrected by you know who..The Flickers are in the Woodpecker family..Years ago I had one on my blog and "Hubs" asked me what it was..I looked it up and found out about the Flickers..Guess I forgot..:)

Great shot capturing the bird co close.
I too would have said wood pecker, but after being doubted by Missy George I looked it up in my European bird book and the red marking on the head is further forward on the Lesser spotted Wood pecker. I don't know the Flicker bird as we don't have it here in France. Good timing for this photo.

Oh goody goody, a great shot of a woodpecker. Love their colors and textures!! Oh in reading some of the comments maybe this isn't a woodpecker, but whatever it is, it's beautiful!!

I believe that's a Flicker. We used to see those around our Colorado home. Great shot, Lynne.
