Casserole or Hot Dish . . .

Which is it for you?
My hubs always giggles when I call it a Hot Dish . . .
(I wonder why).
Must have been what Wisconsinites or Iowans called it.
Hubs calls it a Caserole and he has always been a Michigander.
We had this for dinner last night with fresh MICHIGAN homegrown asparagus.
My momma's famous luncheon "hot dish" casserole!
Here is the recipe for you!
Need some comfort, calorie food, this is it!
Enjoy
~ ~ ~
Momma Leone's Chicken Luncheon Casserole
Ingredients:
2 ½ cup cooked chicken
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup diced celery
¾ cup mayo
1 tsp grated onion ( I add more)
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp lemon juice
(I always use more onion, plus I season the chicken breast for baking.)

Topping
1 ½ cup cooked rice
1 cup corn flakes
½ -1 cup of slivered almonds
~~~
Directions:
Season chicken breast and bake, cut or shred in small pieces.
Mix all ingredients, except almonds and cornflakes
Put into casserole dish
Brown almonds in butter, mix with corn flakes
and put on top of casserole.
(cover the casserole with tin foil near the end if it gets to brown . . . I should have)
Cook 45 minutes at 375°
I don't care what it's called as long as you call me to eat it! That's sounds wonderful and is pretty too.
I call them casseroles.
I've never heard a casserole called a hot dish....I am always amazed at how different food is made and the names vary from state to state.
I am such a casserole fan and this one sounds so good. Thanks for the recipe.
Sounds like a great hot dish! I have heard it called that before, but here in Kentucky, we call it a casserole.
They are synonymous to me, but I was born in Indiana and moved to Wisconsin when I was nine. Spent four years in Iowa and lived in California for a summer. I'm a little mixed up. Your hot dish/casserole looks yummy!
Casserole at our house. We didn't have many growing up. It was always meat, potatoes and a vegetable.
