Critters in Sight and Sound . . .

These are my critters for
Saturday's Critters.
~
Thursday night we were awakened by a
very loud screeching in our back woods.
Whatever it was, it carried on for a good twenty minutes or so.
A Critter moment for sure!
Getting back to sleep wasn't happening for any of us.
I wondered if it was a screech owl, or mating cats,
or fox who have been frequenting the neighborhood.

Mister Garden House checked things Friday morning
but not too much out of the ordinary.
Although he did find some large animal foot prints
and scratches on some of the trees.

Chalk it up to a restless night.
Sleep called me early last night
and I enjoyed a full night of quiet slumber!
~
A few days ago I was doing one of my
"favorite things"
of reading a book on the porch.
All of a sudden the weather changed from windy to a quiet stillness.
The back yard was a buzz of chirps . . .
The sounds and sights were such a treat.
Cardinals, Orioles, Pine Siskin, Chickadee, Mourning Dove
Purple Finch, Gold Finch, Blue Jay, Sparrows, Chipmunks, Squirrels
and more, it was a buzz of chirps and flitting.
Then all of a sudden I happened to sneeze
and the backyard critters hurried and scurried off somewhere else.
Sitting quietly, listening and watching make me very happy.
It's the little things in life . . .

Good morning, Lynne! I love the gull with the sparkling diamonds. The Clydesdale horses are so pretty and I love the Dalmatian doggie. Do you think it could have been a black bear in your yard? I would think they scratch at the trees. It is simple pleasure to enjoy your backyard birds. Lovely images and post. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

I too love to sit and read where I can enjoy nature. But, to be awaken by such a noise would be frightening to me. Glad it didn't harm anything.

Eerie for sure..There's nothing more blood curdling than the sound of mating cats..Don't know about the claw marks though...Could it have been a bear?? How high up were the claw marks ? Love those Clydesdale's.. They have the best commercials too..Have a fantastic weekend..

Just saw a deer dashing across the street in front of the house 2 minutes ago. My neighbors across the street had a bear in their yard a few days ago. My favorite critter of all is my Boston, Molly. Loved your photos.

I would be a dedicated beer drinker if I could have that team of horses!

We took our son (when he was very young) to see these beautiful horses once. He always thought they were so cool...and, indeed, they are. :)

Yes, I would agree, reading on the back porch, listening to the sounds of nature is one of my favorite joys in life. Great set of critters!!

We like to sit in the yard and enjoy the sounds of nature, too. Of course, some of our best friends make no noise at all...the fish and turtles in our pond, the bunnies that eat our clover...that's ok, too! I don't mind the quiet! ;)
