Little Hats, Big Hearts . . .

Volunteers for the American Heart Associatio and Mended Little Hearts in West Michigan

are celebrating American Heart Month by knitting red hats

for all babies born in February at participating area hospitals.

We’re raising awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of Americans,

and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the country.

~

so I have been knitting . . .

slow going for me with that bum finger I have on my right hand

(maybe you remember my bird feeder incident)

but I finally figured out a new way to hold and knit

and I am almost finished with number one

hats are to be finished, "turned in" by mid January

several of us Western Michiganders are crocheting or knitting hats for

preemies and newborns

I like thinking about a little one
wearing a cuddly red hat
and
hoping their heart problems are solved and fixed

This is such a wonderful thing to do! A few of our ladies in my Bible study group contribute hats for this!

Sweet. It's a very good cause. There's another similar one here, and I've been thinking about getting involved. Also chemo caps.

What a nice job you are doing on the little red hat.
Such a sweet gift for those little ones, and they will be much appreciated, I'm certain.
All the more sweet of you to do, considering the challenge you are having with that old injury.

So funny. For some really bizarre reason, I was just recently thinking of your finger ordeal.
It must mean that I am destine to knit a hat in honor of you and this project.
I have some red yarn in my stash...

Oh, that header photo just warms my heart, Lynne. So sweet. And I love the little hats. The red yarn you chose is gorgeous, and the preemie who gets it will be warmed by the work of your loving hands. xo
