Little Hats, Big Hearts . . .

Volunteers for the American Heart Association

are celebrating American Heart Month by knitting red hats

for all babies born at participating hospitals in February.

They are raising awareness of heart disease,

the number one killer of Americans.

Congenital heart defects

is the most common type of birth defect in the country.

Little Hats, Big Hearts™

started in February 2014 in Chicago, IL

collecting 300 hats in the first year.

The program has now expanded to 29 states.

If you are interested in participating check out the website,

enter your state and you will find a contact person/name.

~

Friends of mine volunteered to help knit.

I received some of the hats today.

Thank you JoAnn and Jane for your participation.

I will continue knitting these Little Hats in 2016.

Hopefully I will knit more than the 'one' I did this year.

This is wonderful, Lynne!
Family of family, who we spend each Christmas Eve with, lost their baby after a 4 month fight with CHD last year. These hats are so special.
On the topic of knitting, you'd mentioned interest in the patten I used for my December knitting marathon.. making "cowls" for Christmas. I made them all up, each is slightly different. I plan to make a couple more soon, I'll keep notes. They were a hit!
