Snickers . . .

Snickers has had some "issues" since November.

It started off with allergies, not sure what she was allergic to.

Difficult for "ten pounds of fluff " to communicate why "they itch all over"

We tried different meds . . . steroids seemed to help.

Then she went right in to Kennel Cough which is a virus.

Sometimes it is picked up at a kennel, or from a place with other dogs.

We have never kenneled her but she might have picked it up where she is groomed.

More meds, seemed better, allergies kicked up again after that. Then a urinary tract infection.

Ever try to get a urine sample from a mini dog, or any dog for that matter,

a funny sight to see me running around the yard with a plastic container, for a "catch!"

Results showed blood, question of pre cancer something or another, more meds prescribed.

Follow up urine test was worse than the first, issues many, the weekend was not fun!

(Too much information I am sure!)

X-ray this morning, large bladder stone, no wonder she has been miserable!

The question becomes, do we stay on this road, or do we stop.

No doubt in our minds today, we move ahead,

with surgery on Wednesday to remove the stone.

Doc Vet Peterson

has reassured us that

getting Snickers back to "her spunk" is his goal.

She might feel "punky" for a few more days,

but I think she will be suffering more from diet changes than anything!

(and that might be a good thing for us both)

~

I am looking forward to a good night of sleep.

Thank you for your caring,

Love and Hugs,

Lynne

It's always such a worry. I'm glad it is something that can be treated and that Snickers should feel better soon!

I know bladder stones are no picnic but I am so grateful it is not a canine cancer. The decisions can be very difficult on an older animal but I'm thinking that with a surgical operation to remove something concrete you have an excellent chance of recovery without additional treatments that would be difficult for you all. This is really good news, Lynne. I send lots of huggy wishes to Snickers for the surgery and the end of punky and back to spunky!

On no!! Gosh I hate to see any animal in pain - but one as cute as Snickers ... well, it should be against the law or something. Hugs to both of you.

I am so happy it's something that can be fixed. I live in fear (I know I should not worry so much, but I do!) that something will happen to Mele. I guess I've had too much loss. Keep us posted. This was good news today. Great, in fact! Will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Love to you, Lynne.

First I've heard of Kennel cough, but I did some reading on it. Seems like it's the dog version of bronchitis

Bless her heart. Your Vet should be able to what is called a sterile urine sample in the office. It is much more accurate. We had a schnauzer with chronic bladder issues, and ended up having surgery to remove a bladder stone. She recuperated beautifully and lived many years after. Her passing had nothing to do with the stone. Wishing Snickers a quick recovery.

Poor peanut, no wonder she was so miserable. I hope the surgery went well today. We had a poodle with constant urinary problems, so I know the chasing with the plastic container very well.

I noticed your more current post that Snickers is doing better..... I didn't realize she had been ill. So sorry that she has been uncomfortable since November. That's a long time for a pup to itch. So hard for them to communicate that something is seriously wrong..... hoping that February goes much better for Snickers and the entire household since I know this is hard on you and your husband too when your pup does not feel well. xox Love to you and Snickers!
