happy . thanks . giving . . .

Happy Thanksgiving

let's break that down

happy . . .

thanks . . .

giving . . .

take some time today

with each word

let me know your thoughts

~

No going to granny's house for my family today.

Granny and gramps are the ones who will be doing the "going" as we hop in the car,

drive a few miles north to my daughter/son in laws for dinner at one.

SIL's parents will be there, along with hostess, host, grandsons and great granddaughter . . .

We are looking forward to the bounties of food, chatter, happy and laughter.

I have been very reflective of late

and have found myself turning to one of my favorite authors

Frederick Buechner

I have read many of his books . . .

Alphabet of Grace

Wishful Thinking : A Theological ABC

A Room Called Remember

Now and Then

The Sacred Journey

to name a few

~

as I have read back through

notes, saved quotes, journals

I found these quotes of his

read along

reflect

happy . thanks . giving

~

" . . . some moment happens in your life that you say yes right up to the roots of your hair, that makes it worth having been born just to have happen. laughing with somebody till the tears run down your cheeks. waking up to the first snow. being in bed with somebody you love... whether you thank god for such a moment or thank your lucky stars, it is a moment that is trying to open up your whole life. If you turn your back on such a moment and hurry along to business as usual, it may lose you the ball game. if you throw your arms around such a moment and hug it like crazy, it may save your soul.”

~

“The grace of God means something like: Here is your life. You might never have been, but you are because the party wouldn't have been complete without you.”

~

“You can kiss your family and friends good-bye and put miles between you, but at the same time you carry them with you in your heart, your mind, your stomach, because you do not just live in a world but a world lives in you.”

Frederick Buechner

I am not familiar with Buechner, so thank you for sharing the quotes. Every photo lovely but I was especially drawn in by your opening photo of the wheat. Gorgeous.

Wishing you safe travels for the rest of the weekend.

I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving with your family! The quotes are wonderful - I especially like the one about the world living in you - probably because our families are scattered across the country and I always feel as though we are together in other ways.
