Reunion . . .

Mr Irish and I drove to Iowa this past weekend for my
Hampton, Iowa, High School Class of 1957, 60th reunion.

One thing you can count on when visiting Iowa, is plenty of CORN.
We weren't disappointed . . . everywhere we looked, corn, corn and more corn!
I enjoyed showing Jack many of my favorite memory places,
like my family home, the backyard pond, and historical county court house.

Our little Snickers stayed home this trip.
Not her choice, lately she wants to be with us all the time.
It was going to be a fast trip so we made the decision to not take her with us.
Daughter Suzy stepped up to the plate to help.

Great fun to see my classmates, although it seemed like there was
not enough time to be with everyone with enough time to visit.
We did some "looking back" and a bunch of giggling though. Oh My!

We were a small class of 78 members.
Sadly, 24 class members have died within the 60 years.
There were 23 of us at the reunion on saturday the 24th.

It had been ten years since I had seen most of my friends.
Many of us have moved from this small rural town to other states.
Seattle, Washington, Oregon, California, Florida, Texas,
Washington DC, Minnesota, Montana, Michigan to name just a few.

We left on friday and managed to hit Friday Rush Hour in Chicago.
Traffic, construction, bad timing . . . bet you get the picture. YIKES!
Return home on Sunday was much better.
Thirteen hundred miles round trip . . . happy doggie, happy to be home.

Beautiful day today as I am putting this post together.
I am thankful I am up and about, able to walk again . . .
Some of you may remember I was out of commission for a few weeks.
A pinched nerve in my back, stopped me in my tracks.
I am better, not perfect . . . but better.

A month behind on planting, weeding, getting ready for summer.
But the porch is ready. The sky is blue. A stack of books are handy.
Let summer begin . . .

Doctor wants me to walk this weekend so I started the day at the Farmer's Market
and in just a few we are off to our favorite fish place for some walleye.

Happy Fourth of July for the USA . . . Happy Canada Day, July 1, 150th celebration today.
Everyone else . . . how about . . .
Be Happy!
Love ~
Lynne

I am happy your back is getting better. I'm way behind on my summer outdoor tasks, too. That must have been so nice to see old friends. I've never been to a class reunion. -Jenn

I've heard that the traffic around Chicago is especially bad this year. Thankfully our trips have taken us east and south.

The porch and garden look lovely. Glad you're up and about again. Thanks for sharing you mom's parfait pie recipe with me today. I'm going to have to give it a try. It sounds yummy.

Oh Lynne, I'm thrilled that you are feeling so much better and in less pain. Glad you can walk. I'm sure that it made the reunion much more fun. I would think car travel would have been tough. But it sure looks like you had a fabulous time. I think I'll probably try to hit my 50th or 60th. Or maybe not!
