I Am Very Sad . . .

I debated and debated on whether to do this post.
I decided if this was me, I would want you to know.

This is about Mona, Wsprsweetly of Cottages . . .
I was so excited to see a post from her last night.
She hadn't posted much these past few months.
She emailed a few times saying she hadn't been feeling well.
Yet, she didn't allude to much other than her broken heart.
(I regret that I focused more on her broken heart than how she was feeling physically.)

If you followed her, you'll remember the death of her daughter Sandra a few years ago.
This past year, September, I think, her beloved dog Mele died.
And a few weeks after that, her son Pat died suddenly . . .

Much sorrow and sadness . . .
Beautiful family, filled with daughters, sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, inlaws, spouses and her sweet, sweet husband PH, ( patient husband.). Family gatherings seemed to happen happily and often . .

Mona loved her gardens, her sweet space in life, her tiny house, collections of dishes, dolls, china, crystal, holiday memorabilia, wallpaper, frilly curtains and more and more and more . . .

Mona was thankful, kind and had the most grateful heart ever..

We visited on the phone a few times . . .
Wrote REALLY LONG emails to one another . . .
I would wake up in the morning to a long 2-3 pager . . . often.

We talked about everything . . . I opened up my heart, she opened hers

Her son Danny posted this yesterday . . .

Hello, My name is Danny...the middle son. It is with a heavy heart that I inform all of mom's blog friends that she is very ill. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a couple months ago, and is now receiving hospice care from my sisters Erin, Mary, Dawn, and myself.

Please say a prayer for her, or simply keep her in your thoughts.

Warmest regards,
Danny

This was such sad news about Mona. Her posts were always so enjoyable to read. She had so much heartbreak all come in such a short span of time. I had not yet seen the message that she had passed away, until just now on this post. I'm going to miss her. My prayers go out to her family.

Oh Lynne, it's so sad when one of our blog family leave us. Especially when we didn't know much before or be able to say goodbye. It's odd, isn't it, this beautiful world of friendship we build with people we may never have met. Their departure hits a deep, sad chord. I am so sorry. The tribute you shared is lovely.

So, so very sorry for your loss Lynne. How I hate those empty sounding words. But I truly do mean them.
Kuddos for Danny for recognizing how important the blooger community is. I am glad he let all of Mona's readers and special friends in on their last moments with their mom.

Mona was a dear sweet lady. We talked often but not often enough.

I sent her a small antique glass dog for her fairy garden and she was thrilled.

I shall mourn her passing too.

Lynne,

I'm so glad that you wrote such a loving tribute to Mona. We were also great friends for many years. She was a wise woman and she loved to blog and send emails in the middle of the night when she couldn't sleep. I knew Sandy passed away a few years ago but I didn't know about Pat nor Mele. She had such sadness in her life, losing her first two husbands far too young and in a short space of time. But I look at these pictures and she exudes warmth and love for her family. They must be devastated.

I'm glad you got to know her so well, i'm sure she was a great gift in your life. From across the miles or the computer screen, we women know how to bond. And that makes us very lucky indeed.

With love and a warm hug,

Jane x
