FRIDAY

Serendipitous Afternoon
meeting up with a friend I hadn’t seen in years
“magical”
It took me back to my beginning blogging days.
I pulled out a few of my posts to read.

Words, Thoughts, Wisdom
I began to formally collect favorite words,
thoughts, reflections a few years ago.
I have collected them in a file I named, "Flirting."
My thought was I might like to write a book one day and
since I had saved, tucked away, written down, quote after quote after quote
I thought it might be time to ask for some input from friends as to their favorites.
Many responded and here are some I am sharing.
(Fast forward ten years, still collecting, no book!)

TWO WOLVES
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson
about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is
between 'two wolves' inside us all.
One is Evil.
It is anger, envy, jealousy,
sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance,
self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies,
false pride, superiority and ego.
The other is Good.
It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity,
humility, kindness, benevolence,
empathy, generosity, truth,
compassion and faith.
The grandson thought about it for a minute
and then asked his grandfather; "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied,
"The one you feed."

To live content with small means;
to seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion.
To be worthy, not respectable,
wealthy, not rich.
To study hard, to think quietly,
talk gently, act frankly.
To listen to stars and birds,
to babes and sages, with an open heart.
To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely,
await occasions, hurry never.
In a word, to let the spiritual,
unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common.
This . . . . is to be my symphony.

As I look back and read
these quotes I realize
how my life has been
changed, shaped, stretched
in memories, friendships,
faith, wisdom, laughter, love
and more
day after day after day
each, all
have become part of my story.
