I am very fortunate
to have inherited my mothers
Alpine Syracuse China
and her silver.
and to have my
Chevy-Chase Syracuse China
and
Old Lace Silver
I am also fortunate to have
my mother in laws
very old
Emerald Fostoria Goblets
beautiful linens
and my
Waterford Crystal
Very Fortunate Indeed
yet
I seldom use them any more.
instead I set a pleasant table
using stem less wine glasses
stoneware dinner ware and stainless steel cutlery.
My finery abounds
and yet the
two most favorite
utensil pieces in my possession,
are these two spoons.
I don't know the brand
although I do remember
where they came from.
I guard them carefully.
They are best for stirring and not for ice cream scooping.
I remember the hands that stirred with them.
I remember the many meals cooked for me and my family.
Each time I pick them up to use them I remember my mother.
I remembered her today
as I made
Blueberry Pancakes
Special Eggs
Fruit
for our
Sunday Brunch
My mom was a special lady.
I miss her.
Love
Lynne

*big sigh*
so glad you have all of those things, but the utensils - the every day usage - is the best. :)
it's been donkey's years since I've seen that china...still beautiful!
Your dishes are really lovely as are your precious memories. Thanks for sharing them today. You never get over missing your Mom, I haven't either....
I have a few things from my mum's kitchen, and now that she no longer cooks, they bring her right into the work space with me. I remember her asking 'now why would you want that old thing'......because it makes me think of you, Mum.
Such a special memory and you are so lucky to have been given these special gifts. These gifts will always be a connection to your heart.
I'm wiping away a few tears. What a beautiful post.
Oh, so bittersweet! Cherish is the word.....
Very nice post! What was the occasion today?
My mom had those same spoons. I have not seen those in a long time. Those are beautiful plates, I love the simplicity.
The china is lovely and the spoons are pretty. The plates are my favorite, I love the pretty flower and simple design. I can see why you cherish, lovely memories of your Mom.
We never, ever stop missing our Mom's. *HUGS* for you this morning.
I'm glad you have her spoons and all those precious memories.
Dearest Lynne, These memories are close to my heart each day too, as I use the things my Mom used. What would you give for one more moment, to hear her laugh or her warm embrace? ... Beautiful post my friend. Love, Penny

Beautiful china! I know what you mean, I love using things that my Mum used, brings her near to me. We will always miss our Mums. Lovely post! xxx
What wonderful memories and maybe you use them at Christmas to set a beautiful table?
Hi Lynn it is lovely that you have these wonderful memories.
It's funny how, as we get older, our "favorites" change..I had all the china, sterling and crystal..gave it all to B....My favorite kitchen knives are old, hand made wooden handle ones that my grandmother used..Hmm..good post topic..I also use her sterling as everyday flatware.
It doesn't matter old we become we are always moved by memories of our Mother's cooking. How wonderful to have tools your mom used daily. Bonnie
Those spoons bring back memories, my mom had a similar pair.
I love using these kind of items that I have. Such strong memories and emotions. I shed quite a few happy tears when doing so.
Hugs and love to you Lynne
