of everything before everyone arrived
but forgot the camera as soon as
the family walked through the door.
Why does that always happen!
The main food at this gathering
was pulled pork loin sandwiches,
or what we call
our version of
Muskegon's famous #31 BBQ.
Favorites sauces;
the above a sweet/sour almost identical #31 sauce
and below, Hermann's rib sauce I found recently.
Can you believe it?
I cut one finger and one thumb peeling these potatoes.
But moms potato salad was requested
so I provided and dealt with the cut fingers!
Another food star of the day was
Pineapple Salsa
I recreated my own version
from several other recipes.
{Really, really good, I share recipes}
The usual special dips and snacks were available
and the famous brownies with vanilla ice cream
made a show at the end of the day.
We had a fun day being together
even though Amanda who had to work and
Jordon, who had a Lake Michigan sailing event
couldn't join us.
Jack roped off an area for us to play
the neighbors Washer Game
or as we called it,
(suburb horseshoes)
I won't be considered a star player
like DIL Sue
but we all enjoyed the game
and had some great laughs and giggles.
Our Labor Day
Family Picnic
was a happy entry to
fall time
weather and events.
Thank you for visiting!
I will be back soon
and hope you will be back
to visit again too.
Love, Lynne

ooh. homemade potato salad! yum! might have been worth the cut thumb and finger! :)
glad you had a good day!
It sounds like a really good way to celebrate the last weekend of summer. I've never tried pulled pork. Is it difficult to do?
it is funny how that happens-I've never heard of pulled pork-stinky those cuts, all worth the effort.
Food looks great. You know....perhaps you are wise because you can spend too much time behind the camera and taking pics of everything that you may miss the very important moments. I say this because it's happened to me. You have the faces and the moments stored in your mind so enjoy and we'll enjoy hearing about it and njoying the food. Joan
It sounds like the perfect day. Yummy food makes for a very happy family.
What a great family fun event. I always forget to take pictures during as well. It just means you were enjoying the time with family.
What a delicious day!
Best,
Bonnie
Hi Lynne. It looks like you had a fun Labour Day holiday. There's nothing like a family gathering over a meal and some games. Happy September to you!
As much as I love my potato salad , I find it labor intensive to make it..Everything looks yummy..Glad you enjoyed yourself enough to forget to take pictures..
