Tucked away near the Smithsonian was this beautiful garden.
Many plantings like luscious ferns, boxwood, grasses, holly
were bordering the winding walkway.
We happened upon this garden area on our final day in Washington DC.
I couldn't wait to show you the garden, fence and charming brick pathways,
I thought it would be perfect for Theresa's Thursdays
Does anyone recognize what the purplish plant is
above that weary traveler photo of me?
I'd love to know what it is!

Get ready . . . vacationing photo overload is on its way.
'til next time,
Love, Lynne

As you say a lovely place to walk and see the gardens. I love the lattice fences.
Hello Lynne, great shots for the fence meme.. You look happy being a tourist in DC. I love the Smithsonian museums.. Sorry, I can not help with the plant. Great shots, have a happy day!
Beautiful pics and I do not know what the purple plant is but I do know tired when I see it:) Hug B
Amazing photos. Really reflects the beauty amongst the concrete, marble, limestone of DC.
Just gorgeous photos!
just a really pretty area! thanks for sharing it, lynne!
I love brick paths that meander. A very lovely walk you enjoyed, Lynne. xxx ~ Nancy
Love the fence and especially the brick walkways..The plant looks very familiar but that's the best I can do..I guess it reminds me of a Maple variety..Japanese..
Now that is one pretty place and lovely building too!
Beautiful! Can't wait to see your vacation photos! We went on a 13 day trip back in July and I am still posting pictures! :-)
That's a really pretty pathway and nice fence, Lynne. I believe the plant is a castor bean. I googled it. :) They can be tall and have red blossoms and are poisonous, or at least parts of them are. Looking forward to your trip pics.
i don't know what the plant is but you are making me want to take a quick trip to dc!
Such a sweet garden area that reminds me of days gone by. Your shots are awesome….
DC is a great vacation spot, but it is very tiring. So much to see! Rest up!
I can understand why they would wall/fence in that beautiful place.
Oh yes the brick walkway is wonderful and paired with that lovely fence it really makes a pretty picture.
I do believe you're right--it looks like Castor Bean plant to me. I love DC--it's been a few years since I've been there, but every trip has been wonderful. Seems like fall would be a great season to visit DC. :)
