The People Have Spoken . . .

Yesterday I worked as an election inspector

in a local precinct for the Presidential Election.

Working at the elections is something I have been doing for several years.

It was a long day from 5:30 am - to 9:30-10:00 in the evening.

The voter turnout in this small precinct was the largest I have ever seen.

Voting our choice in an election was fought for us to do so many years ago.

I don't take voting lightly.

I follow, read, study, listen, discuss and make my decisions.

The people have spoken . . .

Donald Trump is our President Elect.

As I walked Snickers this morning I stopped to say hello

to a mother waiting for her kindergarten daughter to get on the school bus.

As we visited together and waited for the school bus,

she was echoing my thoughts, my vote, when she said . . .

"it is not how I cast my vote."

Today is a new day . . .

My hope is that we gather together . . .

in kindness, spirit, faithfulness, regard, resilience, respect and civility.

God Bless America

Thank you. It is a job with little thanks and low pay but a vital part of our democracy.

I never take voting...a right many have fought for...lightly either. I research, compare, and decide. It's our duty as a voter as much as it is the duty of a politician to be true to their constituents. I've lost my vote for a few years. This year I won.

Enjoy your trip. Revitalize and renew. Look forward to hearing all about your visit.

Good Evening Lynne, I hope you have recovered from your very long day yesterday and that you have managed to put your feet up today.
I absolutely agree with you, we must never take our voting rights for granted.
We have been watching the BBC News with great interest and our daughter has been explaining, via Skype, the intricacies of your voting system.
Have fun with your daughter when you go on your road trip. I look forward to hearing all about it when you return home.
Best wishes as always.

Good for you, working on election day. And yes, we move forward. I am heartbroken. Not for so many of the reasons some might think -- I disagreed with but the human issues human issues. Immigration. LGBT rights. Being kind and decent. Not paying people who work for you? Bullying? No. That is not my candidate. Neither candidate was without flaws but oh, how I wanted Hillary to win. I'm still grieving and probably will be. And then, I must move forward in kindness, compassion, light -- and hope that much of it was a big act. I don't think so. But I can hope.

I was initially very upset by this result. But I have come to the same conclusion. He was voted in. He must succeed because our success is tied to his success. Interesting times.

We can't let this tear us apart, nobody wins then.

It has probably all been said Lynne. I find it all quite farcical XXXX

My mom used to work election day, Lynne. I know what a long day it is and that we would not be able to cast our vote without the time people like you are willing to give on that day. You certainly don't get paid enough to do it! xo

Lynne thank you for your time spent on election day. It is an important and thankless job. So again, thank you my friend!

Very well said. I saw fewer voters than usual in my area, which was surprising, but I'm also hoping for the best.

I am so so glad it's all over. I have been heartsick at all the meanness, so many ugly things happening, riots, looting...name calling...I hate it...I think Mr. Trump is just what we need to clean up the mess we find ourselves in....
