One Second Shy . . .

Omaha, Neb. - Emily McClellan of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee swimming team swam a lifetime best in the 100m breaststroke and finished sixth overall at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials Wednesday, earning spot on the U.S. national team.

McClellan, who owns every breaststroke record for both the Panthers and the Horizon League and is the two-time league women's swimming & diving athlete of the year, finished sixth with an outstanding time of 1:07.41, just over one second shy of earning a trip to this summer's Olympics in London.

On Friday, McClellan will swim again in the 200m breaststroke where she is seeded 40th out of 133 total competitors.

Two more Panthers will take the pool on Saturday as senior Jordan Diel in the 100m butterfly and sophomore Becky Yokosh will swim in her second event, the 200m backstroke. Yokosh already swam in the 100m backstroke, finishing 99th out of 162 with a time of 1:04.38 on Tuesday.

I feel terrible because I haven't been watching the swim trials -- but I'm so happy for Emily. Continued good fortune to her!

Wow! Good for her!!
She should be so proud of herself.

Durn it all about the one second.
Amazing that one teeny tiny second can make such a difference.

Will she be able to fill in for someone if they have an injury or something that keeps them out of the Olympics??

Have a great weekend.. stay cool.

Smiles :)
