Drive By Fence . . .

In fact
I see three fences, one house
and one pole in the way!

I had to "snap fast!"

Linking to Good Fences

~

So they all went away from the little log house.
The shutters were over the windows,
so the little house could not see them go.
It stayed there inside the log fence,
behind the two big oak trees
that in the summertime had made green roofs
for Mary and Laura to play under.

No Doubt About It . . .

Tucked on the side of the road,
remote, off the beaten track,
amidst the hills, dips, twists of the road
between Ludington and Pentwater,
and steps away from Lake Michigan
you'll find Bortell's Fisheries.

Early Friday evening we took a drive to check it out.
We had driven by before, but it was closed.
The sky was as blue as blue could be
a perfect weather day, 3, 4, 5 in a row!

Fresh fish or deep fried to purchase, take home . . . or
treat yourself to one of the deep fried features and eat right there.

We treated ourselves to the lake perch, walleye and fries
and sat at one of the picnic tables for our dinner.

Everyone else had the same idea.
Long lines of people waiting, cars parked along side the road,
people stopping by for the take-a-ways!

Mind you, no restaurants around,
this is a tucked away six generation gem
and a "must go there each summer season."

No doubt about it!

Fence Hunt . . .

My Mister Kennedy happened onto a few fences the other day.
He sent them on to me.
Here they are for you!

We found this tree stump fence row below
while taking a look at a new natural park area a few days ago.

I must include this picture of
"Little Miss Great Grand"
having a great time exploring at her grans and gramps
Isn't this a "wonderful happy on the hunt look"!
She is in her own "little two year old world" of bliss.

Random 5 Friday . . .

Here are my randoms for this Friday . . .

1.  I jumped on the "blog train" and "opened" Irish Garden House five years ago. This is the garden house we slept in on our first trip.  The main house and garden house belonged to friends of ours. There was a loft in the garden house where we slept which overlooked Bantry Bay and left to the Atlantic Ocean.  Yes indeed, we fell in love with all things Ireland and it is our favorite place to travel.  I'll be celebrating Ireland and our trips there in the month of May.

2.  I can't get in the mood for gardening when the morning temperatures are in the thirties.
I say enough is enough, it is time for some sun and springtime!

3.  I am watching the National Geographic, The Story of God, hosted by Morgan Freeman. Very interesting . . .

4.  I haven't a clue why I do this dot dot dot thingy . . . I can't seem to stop . . . it drives me crazy sometimes . . . It is different than a comma . . . more of a pause.  Just sayin' . . .
(I had to laugh right out loud, I previewed my post and I had written 'coma' instead of 'comma'. . . oh my, great laugh at self moment!)

5.  Have you ever thought about "friends" . . . friends you see often, friends who are far away, family friends, blog friends . . . wonderful to have friends, isn't it . . . and then there is just being "friendly" too . . .

~
Thank you Nancy for hosting . . . and helping us think random!

Week In A Blink . . .

Where do the days, weeks go
it is past mid September
fall is in the air
my creative bug has hit me
I painted up some pumpkins
one for a friend celebrating a birthday above
and one for me below.
Plus my friend Barb joined me and painted a pumpkin too.
I like her Bitter Sweet too!
I brought out some of my fall things to
place here and there around the house.
I found a cute little owl
and this glass pumpkin at Pier One the other day . . .
A basket of Annabelle Hydrangeas
added a touch of green to the coffee table.
I have been reading constantly and enjoying it tremendously.
I liked John Hart's, The Last Child and have followed him since.
I just finished reading his riveting, brilliantly written
Iron House.
I am ready for something light and easy now for a few days.
another great grand
will arrive sometime in February . . .

Question, so when grandchildren have their babies
would their babies be second cousins
to one another.
Oh my, I am confused . . .

Grandson Cody is making all the furniture
for their "first new to be" little one.
Changing table/chest, small chest and crib.
Cody watched some videos on line,
and said to himself,
"I can do this"
and away in went.

Watching them be excited,
making furniture, painting the room,
decisions, plans
makes me excited too.
As soon as this piece is finished he will start on the crib.
Remember that fence I had on here in the spring
and I wondered what the berries were . . .
sure look like grapes to me.

Have you seen the galvanized pumpkins while shopping?
I really like them . . . the price not so much!

Take a look at Kerin's blog link below
to see what they look like.

when I am not reading
or dreaming about more great grandbabies
or painting
or snapping pictures
or sprucing up the house
you can find me outdoors
cleaning the gardens
and putting things to sleep for the winter

the leaves are beginning to show their colors here in Michigan
and the acorns are falling fast and furious.

you know the old wives tale
lot's of acorns, lots of snow.
fine by me
I love fall and winter.
~
that is it for me
and my
"week in a blink."

See you soon!

Friday Hodgepodge . . .

How beautiful
to see photos of a rainbow shinning on the
Freedom Tower
in the early September tenth morning sky.
I saw several photos of this on the news.
I am sorry I can't give proper credit to the photographers.
many thoughts of this horrific tragedy
filled my mind today
Baby Great Grand
discovering her first puddle.
It rained "cats and dogs" the other day!
I wonder where that saying came from?
She loves outdoor exploring.
My Giveaway Apron
arrived in the mail today.
You may remember, Sandra of
having a giveaway a few weeks ago.
This apron was made by an
almost 95 year old woman.
Her daughter was selling the aprons
because she felt it was what her mom would want her to do.
I am honored to receive the apron
and will treasure one of her final handmade pieces.
A friend of mine sent me a copy about the apples
from one of our favorite apple orchards.
Just a hop skip and a jump from our house.
Honey Crisp is still my favorite apple to pick up and eat.

I should have warned you that this was
going to be a bunch of hodgepodge.
This is so you will know everything
that happened in my life this past week.
When I am in a reading mood
it is non stop.
In the past few weeks I feel like I have been on a marathon.
The book above is very good.
poetic  graphic  serious
moving  tragic  loving
take some time for this read
Taken from the cover.
mister Irish Garden House likes
Tuna Melts
I made them for dinner tonight.
tuna  celery  onion  mayo  bread  cheese
I put them on the griddle
bread, cheese slice, tuna mix, cheese slice, bread
easy fix
eating the tuna as a salad was my choice
A friend of mine is celebrating her 60th birthday on Monday.
I painted a pumpkin for her this afternoon.
I plan to paint one for me later this week.

remember to do some things for your self
that you really love doing
and finally
cooler weather arrived

the cutting back, cleaning up, putting plants to rest time
and I began with
this fern who had overgrown its welcome
saying goodbye to sweet begonia
will be difficult to do
guess she will remain for a few more days
~
Two thoughts that have stuck with me that
I found from blog friends this week

I want to be a better human.
