A Pleasant Surprise . . .

Emily McClellan

remember
the swimmer
one second shy
in the trails
to swim
in the
Olympics
in
London

Here she is with her grandpa, my cousin Len.

Yesterday morning
I received an email from my cousin Pam, Len's daughter,
telling me that Emily
would be swimming
in a meet at
Grand Valley State College
not far from us.
(Michigan, for those of you not familiar)

We were there at four, meet was at five.

At first we had a difficult time finding her
the coach came  to our rescue.

we watched
and waited

she watched
and waited

click

more clicks

tons of clicks

My favorite click of the night thanks to Jack.
This was before the meet started.

It was wonderful to see Emily again.
She is such a lovely young gal.

University of Wisconsin Milwaukee
SWEPT
Grand Valley State College

Emily won each pair of her individual events
and also combined on a relay event.

She continues to excel in winning her featured 200 Breast stroke event.
Last night her time was 2:18, 10 seconds in front of the next finisher.
(Not being proud or boasting or anything but she was cruisin'.)

Everyone needs a signature.
Hers,
pink crocs.

We know how to find her now!

and that was our pleasant day after anniversary surprise
