Looking for The Redpoll . . .

My friend Eileen has been hoping
to see a Redpoll near where she lives.
We see them frequently at our feeders,
especially when the temperatures are colder.
Although, fewer birds have been around
with our very mild winter.
Usually we have enjoyed seeing the Redpoll . . . not this year.

I brought out my faithful bird book companion
to show you a picture of the Redpoll

I love seeing the handwriting of a loved one.
This was a birthday gift from my mom, 1976.
She too loved watching and identifying the birds.

I am holding out hope that
a  Redpoll will
appear at the feeders
yet this winter.
~
Thank you friends
for helping me
with my posting problems.
This is my first post from
Google Chrome.

I think I am golden!

Yay. you have your blog problems fixed! I think all the Common Redpolls are here this year Lynne. I have a flock of about 20 every day although I can't really tell how many there are as they flit about so. The niger silo is being attacked by about 10 at a time. Funny thing is, the feeder has been there since October but they didn't find it until last week. They were eating the seed I throw onto the picnic table before that. I love watching them. Sweet little birds. I hope you get some.

I wouldn't know redpoll if it tapped me on the shoulder and said, "hello". Seriously, I am way under educated regarding birds, except the ones I have known since childhood... you know, all the pretty bright ones, cardinals, bluejays, etc.

Hi Lynne, what a nice memory of your Mom. If the Redpolls should show up I hope you can get a photo I would love to see you do a post on them. I hope you are having a happy weekend.

Lynne, I love finding books with my Mother's handwriting. I still have several of her writings. I pull them out (this will sound odd) when I need a good cry. The writings are not sad, they just hold so much love; I had her for such a short time. Oh I wish a Redpoll would visit here. Bonnie

A sweet memory and keepsake of your Mom. My husband is the bird watcher (along with our 2 cats). He religious keeps a bird book next to his chair.

Hi Lynne,
I do hope you are able to get a picture of the bird!
That would be amazing.

How nice to have the book and sweet writings from your Mom.
What a treasure.

So glad that you were able to fix your blogging problems :)

I have never seen one in my part of the woods (NY), they are certainly beautiful. Isn't it amazing how many different kinds and colors of birds there are! I hope they come and visit you soon. My mom also was an avid bird watcher. I did not care much until I retired and had the time to set up feeders and appreciate them. Perhaps I will get a bird book and pass it on to my grandson. Glad your computer problems are solved. Have a great Sunday.
