Summer Reads . . .

I AM BACK

Does it happen with you?
Do you find yourself reading non stop
and then it seems like a frigid spell stops you in your tracks.

Well that is where I have been for several months.
Oh, maybe a book here and there,
but I am back now in the full swing of things
and reading up a storm.

Here are some of my interests of late.

 Mary Alice Monroe
a friend suggested
and I have enjoyed!

The above three I have not read.

I am reading this right now.

I have read Beach House Memories and Time is a River.
Very good.
The author reminds me a bit of Pat Conroy.

I have found beauty and wonder
and a bit of the bitter and sweet in her books.

This book was recommended by two of my friends
I have been on the wait list at the library
Finally ordered it from Amazon and it arrived today along with some others.
I tell you, when I read, nothing else gets accomplished.
Too hot outside anyway.

Perfect weather to curl up with a good book and
it might also be nice to enjoy some coffee,
a tall glass of ice water or maybe a glass of wine.

Comments from two friends:
"might be the best book I have read in a very long time."
"before you pick it up to read it, plan on not putting it down."

 The jacket cover says;
"A moving story about an ordinary man on an extraordinary journey."
Nancy Horan

I was hooked and can't wait to begin to read it.

Flora, I started it, and must get back to it.
 Bonnie, of Living Life
recommended this book.
You can find her right here .

Please pay her a visit.
She has a lovely blog and reads a bunch.
She often posts on her favorite reads!

And last and certainly not least is Daniel Silva.
This is his latest book in the Gabrielle Series.
I have read many, many of Silva's books, all of this series.
This was a pre order which arrived today.
Intrigue, Mystery, Espionage, Mystique

A favorite read for me although I would say,
not for the light hearted.

used books, library books, e books, purchased books
friends books, old books, children's books

Reading Is a Wonderful Art and Gift

I thank you for your visits, follow and comments.
And send a welcome to each of my new visitors.

I could use a good book the one that I'm reading now is okay, but I need something that grabs me and pulls me into the story . . . you know what I mean. The last one I read that did that was Saving CeCe Honeycutt. Have you read it?
I'm having a Give-A-Way on my blog at the moment and it is for an Amazon.com $25 gift card. Buy a new book :)
All you have to do is follow me back and leave a comment.
I would love to have you as a mutual follower, your blogging sister, Connie :)

Lynne, I love to read. Thanks for the titles. Going to check everyone of them out. It is getting hard to find a good book.

Lynne, Thank you so much for mentioning me in your post. Oh, I do hope you are enjoying "Flora". I am afraid I have been reading far too much lately. And, I am loving every minute. I so enjoy hearing what others are reading. Happy reading! Bonnie

Received the Unlikely Pilgramage of Harold Frye from library today...already half way through....easy read, hard to put down.

Can't wait to get into all your other recommendations.

I loved the Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye! Today I picked up Joanna Harris' newest, Peaches for Monsieur le Cure. Can't wait to get into it!

I love reading. I was a sickly child and so off school a lot. Reading was my passion....and still is. The problem is that I could spend all day reading and none doing the more mundane things of life. Joan

Thanks for the suggestions! I seem to read more non-fiction than not these days, so much to learn but during the summer I go full out for fiction. It's just not summer without a good story and maybe a hammock. : )

My problem is that once I start a book, I don't put it down..I never get anything else done so I just don't read..I spend too much time on the computer..Once I'm reading a book I like, I enjoy it..Guess I just need to make time..??

I trying to get into a book but am in a dry spell. I read 2 in May and June and now it seems I don't have time. I read a couple paragraphs before bed and fall asleep. :)

I hit the same slump as you, Lynne. Now I’m back in full swing too. My favorites are cozy mysteries until I hit some little obscure title or author and pull an all nighter. I also follow Bonnie and go by her recommendations as I will yours. I can recommend Harlan Coben if you get stuck again.

Oh my goodness, you are quite the reader! Yes, I am in a reading slump right now. But I'm in a book club, and I will consider recommending some of your suggestions to my group. Thanks! When I'm not gardening, I'm usually reading. ;-)

So many good books out there and I appreciate your recommendations. Maybe this winter...

I'll be making notes of your recommendations. I have a nightstand full of books that are gathering dust. I need to do a better job of sitting down and reading. My mind needs a break from technology.
