Random 5 Friday . . .

a room with a view

our dining room looks out to the front
with annabelle hydrangeas
and a hummingbird feeder in full view

today i happened to walk by the window
and saw a hummingbird fly to the feeder

i had just filled the feeder with a fresh sugar mix
four cups  water, one cup of sugar
bring to a boil, let it cool

i have tried and tried to catch a
close up photo of a hummer

today, a bit of success
and i was soooo excited

annabelle must give some protection

getting ready to land

huge blooms these are

 first sip

love the green and white contrast

pretty tasty

more green and white

even though these pictures were taken through a window
a distance away
I was happy with my mini photo success

What great pictures. I have hummers come to flowers but do not feed them.

Well done. Great pictures. I had only seen humming birds at a bird sanctuary until we went to LA a few years ago. I was so excited when I saw them flying to feed from some pink plants just outside the dining room window! I'm just so pleased that you managed to capture one....and feeding from your pretty feeder. I like the little pink flowers on it! Yes the green and pure white of the hydrangeas is just beautiful ....so pleasing to the eye. Joan

Lynne, your hydrangeas are beautiful. I love the pretty green and white! Cute shots of your hummer! Getting ready for fall already? Are we to guess where your getaway will be? Lovely post, have a happy weekend!

I like the green and white of summer in nature also. It's a really fresh look, an uncomplicated look.

I have a feeder almost identical to yours. Still need to put it up but I did see one hummingbird near my fig bush a couple of weeks ago. These are great shots! Love the hydrangea bush. Dental work...EW! A trip sounds delightful and I can't believe we are already talking about fall!

BEE U TEE FULL photos! and poor hubby and I think you are maybe the first person I have heard say they like to mow their lawn. We do not have HB's here so these photos are a treat.

Fall campfires - I can't wait! Your hydrangea blooms are gorgeous! I had a run in with them this week. :)

Good for you! I haven't been successful (yet) getting a shot of a hummer or a dragonfly. I'll keep trying. I enjoyed seeing you hummer and the lovely flowers. Dental work is no fun. I'm sure your hubby will be glad when it is all over. I used to enjoy mowing the lawn when I was younger. My land lord took some $$ off the rent if I would take care of the lawn. That was many, many, many years ago. Have a lovely week and enjoy your trip.

Great capture of the hummer and your blooms are beautiful. I just can't seem to catch a photo of any bird. My hydrangea is just loaded with blooms this year - more than ever before.

Hummingbirds are difficult to catch with the camera... The least little movement and they flit away. Your Annabelles are so pretty. Have a wonderful Friday! Bonnie

I'm so impressed that you were able to capture all those gorgeous pictures through your window. I'm sorry hubby has more dental work ahead of him. Ouch. This weather certainly does have a fall feel about it. I need the rain to go away so that Chris can finish up his painting on the potting shed. Can't wait to hear more about your get-away!

Great Hummer catch..I saw one this morning as well...missed him for a pic though...I always add the sugar after I've boiled the water..I'm sure it makes no difference..

Our hummers have been uncharacteristically missing this year. I'm so happy you were able to get a few opportune captures Lynne. :)

I never get over the thrill of seeing a hummingbird at the feeder or in the flowers. They are like creatures from another planet. It's fun when the 'buzz' me as I garden.

Such great photo's, I love them. The Annabell hydrangea is gorgeous we see a lot of them here too at the moment

What lovely hydrangeas! And I love your hummingbird. So far my feeders have been a bust. We have one or two that hover near the butterfly bush but they flit before I can 'catch' them. Lovely blog. {Visiting from Random 5.}
