Plenty of Apples . . .

Apples 2013
An orchard, not far from our home, has their apples ready for sale,
so I took off this morning to purchase some Honey Crisp for us and for the gals where I volunteer.
A beautiful day, bought some apples and then asked the owners if they would mind if I drove up the hill to take some pictures of the apples and the orchards.  Kooistra Orchards, Twin Lake, Michigan is a small apple orchard which has many of the favorite apple varieties for sale.  Last year the spring weather was impossible and fresh apple availability was zilch.  This year it is the direct opposite which is making Western Michigan apple growers very happy.  I enjoyed driving around the farm to get some photos of the trees and apples and of the barns and out buildings surrounding the farm.

I appreciate and thank each of you for staying in touch and visiting
Irish Garden House.

remember
an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

I am so glad that I bought some apples this afternoon, or I'd be very envious of your purchases. There's nothing like the first apples of fall. I bought McIntosh today.

Aren't the apples are amazing this year? Our house is surrounded by orchards on Lake MI drive. Josie and I made caramel apples this weekend. Yum!

It's nice to see so many different varieties of apples we don't get here in France. It's apple & blackberry pie time of the year, take a look at Daphnes blog she shows a great step by step recipe.

How wonderful that they let you go around and take pictures. Looks like an awesome orchard. Thank heavens for the bounty this year after last year's dismal failure. By the way, we never went at all to the Irish Festival, it was raining here the whole time, we chose not to be wet and cold.

These are beautiful photos Lynne. I love the last view of the barn and fields. The apple crop here is not a good one this year due to all the rain, late frost and lack of bee pollination. Last year it was an excellent crop. One just never knows. I hope to get out and pick some Macs or Cortland later in the week, and honey crisp if they have any. We had our first frost last night and it feels really fall like today. Pam

Yum, yum, yum! I need to get me some Apples, too! The Wisconsin Apple growers are very pleased with this year's crop, too--same story. :) We are fortunate. Enjoy!

Your pictures are amazing, it is almost as good as being at the orchard, now I want to return. We were there early this year and couldn't pick but purchased a bag of red free. I shared the last one of the bag today, time to go back.

I love how Mother Nature may deny us some years, but will eventually make amends. : )
