Random 5 Friday . . .

Good Morning, the birds have been very happy that we have stayed on top of filling the feeders. I think they recognize me now when I walk outdoors
because they aren't as skittish as usual.

First time try for making scallops for our Christmas Day dinner.  I scored points, hubby gave them a ten, said they were the best he had ever had. His favorite, I am not a scallop gal.

The weatherman told us we were supposed to have a break from the snow until Sunday.
Not true, it keeps snowing.  Another 4-5 inches last night.
I hope you aren't finding me a boring "snow gal!"
Going South for a few weeks sounds perfect.

We will celebrate Christmas/New Year dinner here with Jack's family on Saturday.

Thank you for stopping by the Irish Garden House this year.
I appreciate your visits and love your sweet/kind comments.
Happy New Year, 2014 to each and all.
Love, Lynne
~

I haven't had scallops in decades, but it was a favorite of mine when I was a kid eating them in my momma's restaurant.
My first visit here, came via Rural Journal.

Your faithfulness in feeding the birds is paying off, Lynne. That photo is great. So sweet of you to make scallops for your hubby when they're not something you particularly enjoy. The Reinkes, on the other hand, love scallops and would have fought over them had we been invited to dinner. ;) Hoping the New Year will bring continued good health, joy and love to you and your family. ~ Nancy

Your birds must surely appreciate you and I wouldn't be a bit surprised that they recognize the hand that feeds them. Visiting from R5F, glad I found you!

Winter Wonderland!

Enjoy your holidays.

I'm not sure what a scallop is -- such a buffoon.

I'm holding off feeding the birds while we have some warm weather, but will fill them up Sunday (supposed to be 15 for the high -- yikes!)

Scallops would be a nice change. My sil wanted ham, so ham we had, and it was good. The birds were abundant yesterday. Today there was a robin! I think he missed his flight. We haven't had as much snow on this side of the Lake, but enough. Quite wintry and cold. Happy New Year, ~Joyce

I have been trying to keep our bird-feeder full too. Isn't it amazing that such tiny creatures can survive in the cold.

I have been filling bird feeders way too often. I read that they are having a hard time getting food because of all the snow that has fallen. I love your picture

I am not a scallop gal either. It's a texture thing I guess. The bird is lovely. I point my camera at mine and zoom they fly away. You are getting loads of snow. It is just grey here and it will rain on Sunday. I have been trying to rake for a week without success. xo, olive

Did you get the warm-up yesterday? The ice falling off the lines was wild and noisy. The birds must be so happy to have you take good care of them. Chris went and bought seed yesterday. The feeder is awfully close to the ice rink. I'm not sure the birds appreciate all the extra activity right now. I hope you had a lovely family gathering.

I love that bird, haven't seen those kind around here.

We have snow, but are still waiting for more.

And yes, going South is a great idea.
