The Past Few Days . . .

we have gone from more December snow
than we have seen in many years

to spring like temperatures
and a bit of a melt
literally . . . over night

ridiculous some say

a snow bench on riverwood

the heavy snow did break a branch
on one of our large white pines
we hope the damage will be limited

a black squirrel made a hay day out of the suet feeder
knocked it out of the tree
and tried to open the case to remove the suet

I climbed through the deep snow
to retrieve the feeder and refill
and hang it in a new spot
so far the birds haven't revisited

I am enjoying my purchase of a tripod
and taking some photos of the
birds near the feeders

the above photo was the day after the big snow

and the following were taken yesterday
when it felt like spring outdoors
I walked outside in a sweater
the snow was
melting and dripping
from the trees like a rain storm

the sleds will return to the inside very soon

Jack added this tiny sled
which had been on the top
of a gift tray filled with delicious cookies

thank you for visiting
I enjoy each of you stopping in
for a look and see
and for the comments you leave me

I am wishing you a
Happy New Year
2014
with good health
magical days
and loving and appreciating
our wonderful world
Love
Lynne

Is there anything more beautiful than a cardinal against snow? Love that photograph, and all the others, too. You really have had amazing weather lately. Such drastic differences. Those sleds are so cool. I want some. Happy New Year, Lynn!

Awww, the sleds look sweet as a collection. It sounds like your temperatures have wavered even more than ours--we went from 40s on the weekend, to a low of -12 last night (and a high of 4F during the day today). Fortunately, there wasn't much wind and it was slightly sunny. You captured some great shots. Happy New Year!

Love your sleds. I have looked at a few in second hand shops and they always want a fortune for them. That tiny one is so adorable. Xox

Much, much snow your way! We were hit with a terrible ice storm, and much worse in the Toronto area. Luckily damage was minimal to our trees this time around.

Happy New Year my Friend!

Not having cardinals, we are always thrilled by seeing them. More snow predicted here, but it will make it all look fresh and clean again.

Happiest wishes for the new year.

Oh, your sweet woodland critters are so colorful...ours are all of the neutral brownish variety, well, except for the blue jays, they're lovely.
Wishing you all joy, health, and happiness in the New Year Lynne...and not too much more snow!

Hi Lynne,
This is more snow than I remember since 1971 in Ontario. PEI has a lot, my back yard has a lot and yours as well, it does look beautiful. Our little friends (birds) have been in a lot of trouble with so much snow that has fallen so quickly and they can't get at their food, you are kind-hearted to re-attach the feeder, they will find it. I love your pictures of the Cardinal, beautiful. I love your little sleigh on sleigh
