Snowbirds . . .

the junco's, or snowbirds as we often call them,
continue to flit and fly in amongst our redwood dogwood bushes

maybe they are responsible for bringing the
 freezing temperatures and daily snowfalls
along the mid western michigan lakeshore

today mr and mrs cardinal,
goldfinch, purple finch, chickadee, tufted titmouse
blue jays, nuthatch, black squirrels
and many more goldlfinch
enjoyed feasting in the sunshine
~
off I go to watch the oscars
until next time
love, lynne

Sweet little birds. I used to see them at home each winter. I haven't seen any here.

I do love the winter birds, but have to admit that the Robins I've been seeing this winter are a little mor welcome sight for me! :-)

Hope you're enjoying the Oscars--Stay warm too!!

Lynne, cute captures of your Snowbirds. They are sweeties. It is snowing right now, I hope this winter ends soon. Have a happy day and enjoy your new week.

The Oscars were good. I think that is the first time in a long time I have stayed up to watch them all the way through. It helps that Mallory is home otherwise I wouldn't have.

Yesterday the birds were almost as thick here as they were when the temps were below zero that one whole day. My feeder is bare...

I love the junko's....a friend had them nesting in his hanging baskets on his patio. Since then I have always wanted to have some near.

I never knew juncos were called snowbirds - that's the term we use for all the New England retirees who winter in Florida and return to our area in the summer. Your juncos are adorable!

So cute...and all puffed up against the cold. Makes them even cuter!

Juncos are so cute, and I don't mind seeing them in January. But I always get a little depressed when I first see them in the fall, and then when they stick around into the spring. They are sweet little guys, though, and their flight pattern is so perky. I don't know how they survive out on the coldest days. Nice photography!

I love juncos! So round & cute.
Not much bird life around here this winter.. a blue jay now & then.
The year-round predators here & there - eagles & owls.
I can't wait to hear birdsong in the trees come Spring.
