Welcoming The Monarchs . . .

Monarch Butterflies
really like
 Milkweed.and Butterfly Bush

I guess there are different varieties of the Milkweed.
and the Common Milkweed is the one seen most frequently.
I thinks this is the common milkweed I have pictured above.
I found two patches of milkweed down the road from our house.

I had never noticed that milkweed
had blossoms until just recently.
Not a good idea to cut the blossoms for bouquets though,
you'll get all sticky with the milk . . . not fun!

I love seeing the Monarchs flitting around and
 other butterflies too

the road sides around here are filled with sweet peas
such a pretty time of the summer
take a walk or ride
enjoy the views
~
until the next time
Love, Lynne

Our butterfly bushes have been wonderfully active lately. I should look and see if we have any milkweed in our back woods. I bet we do.

i like the milkweed like you showed - like what i grew up with in wis. ours in texas is antelope horn milkweed which has a tiny white 'bloom' instead of pink. but it still works for monarchs. :)

Lynne, Heirloom sweet peas are my favorite. My grandmother grew them on her fence. When she passed my mother took a cutting and planted them along her fence. She always cut a fresh bouquet for my teacher on the first day of school. I was young when I lost my mother, taking a cutting wasn't on my radar. How I wish it had been. Have a wonderful day!

It is good to see the Monarchs have an abundant supply of milkweed in your neck of the woods. So much of the plant has been lost that the Monarchs are dwindling in number.

Beautiful!
Such great pictures too!!

My hubby told me that he saw monarchs on the milkweed just down the road from us, but I didn't see them.
So, thanks for sharing yours with us!!

Have a great day, my friend.

Our butterflies were early and there was little for them to feed on.

Did you know "milk" is supposed to remove a wart? Put the juice from the milk weed on it every day. I have always heard that but never had to try it.

Beautiful shots.

Such different blooms form the milkweed around here. Much prettier in your neck of the woods.

Lynne, this post reminded me of a time when my late husband and I were visiting a friend who lives in the path of a major annual Monarch migration in Illinois. We were fortunate enough to be there during one of their migrations. It was breathtaking. I'll never forget the thrill of seeing thousands of these gorgeous butterflies visit their garden. Thanks for bringing back this precious memory. Love, Nancy
