Unbelievable Week . . .

Not sure if another week can even begin to compare to this one.

I am sure many of you have heard me say,
"I Love Snow."
I do, I really really do love snow!

I prefer to walk in it, love a crisp windy winter day
and I love to watch the snow fall and to look out to see a blanket of white.
I feel fortunate to live near a wooded area to enjoy daily bird visits.
They fly in in droves for their daily feasts.

The little things give me pleasure.
The Finch empty out the thistle feeder sometimes twice a day.
Year around I keep my local favorite bird store, the Nuthatch in business.
Not sure how many Finch latch on to this sock feeder at one time
but I think there are times I can count around 12-15.

I saw this Meatball Sandwich Casserole recipe on Facebook yesterday
and since we were in the mood for some comfort food, we gave it a try.
The best part of the meal was the salad.
I am not into tossing food BUT we tried it and tossed the rest!
Seriously Awful
Of course I am happy the Packers won today.
Good game even with all the questioned plays, etc.
I am sure it will be a good game next week!

We had a few feet of snow in November, nothing much at all in December.
In fact December, including Christmas was as green/brown as can be.

It started snowing around January third
and snowed throughout the week with frigid temperatures.
The weather people warned us that a "clipper" would begin on Thursday afternoon
affecting the lakeshore area and then moving inland.
They were on the mark with this storm.
The snow started to fall heavily late Thursday afternoon and snowed
into the next morning with 18-20 inches of new snow on the ground.
The drifts were heavy and many of them to boot!
Although I went outdoors to walk and shovel during the week,
I did not drive from Monday evening until Saturday afternoon.
I didn't mind being inside with the brutal conditions outside!

Even though I like the snow, there are things I don't like about it!

Like . . ., I don't like driving on ice or in white out conditions.
I don't like shoveling a long driveway when the snow blower is broken.
I don't like finishing the shoveling of the driveway and come back inside
and receive a phone call saying the snow blower is fixed.
It isn't much fun to be out in the snow when the temperatures
are from zero to five degrees for several days in a row.
And for sure, I don't like thinking about the 40 and 190 car pile ups
that happened in Michigan this past week.

Many lives have been changed drastically with deaths, injuries,
wrecked autos, frightened children and adults.
because of the brutal weather we just endured.

I don't like that much at all.
I wish I could turn back the clock
for all those people who have been affected by the storms this week.

This is what I like . . .
the peacefulness of this scene above
as I stand on the inside and look out into our front yard.

I am really happy when I can catch a photo like the one above of
a cardinal hiding amongst the snow
~
enough about snow
I am ready to enjoy some sunny days this week
and enjoy lunch days with friends
and celebrate some birthdays too..
~
Be Well My Friends
Safe Too

Love, Lynne

Lynne, May you and many others have a week of peace, warmth, sun and may those who've suffered loss know that they are in the prayers and thoughts of many.

My daughter was supposed to drive back home from east Lansing on the day of the multi car pileups, but when I saw that in the news I told her to stay put. Not worth the risk!

I do like a bit of snow, but not 18-20 inches! That Cardinal is just beautiful sitting in those branches.

A little snow is ok but a lot...nope, not for me.
I also tried a recipe off a blog that was TERRIBLE...TER. RI..BLE.
My hubby says that people from different parts of the country eat different things and that I'd better stop using recipes off blogs or FB...I mean, once, someone told me "ewww, how can you EAT blackeyed peas" and they are one of our favorite things on the planet. So, anyway, I am going to stick with my Pioneer Woman cookbooks from now on.
Stay warm,sister friend.

You have some great captures here, Lynne. I agree with you on all the reasons not to like snow. I do love seeing it on the mountaintops here. Enjoy your week. ~ Nancy

I agree with you about snow but want it to be safe!! Uh, I don't agree about the Packers. I'm always for the team who plays the Packers!!

Best,

That was a brutal weather week for you there Lynne. I heard about the terrible car pile ups on the roads there too. So sad for so many people. Your last two photos are so pretty, especially the one with the dot of red in it. :) I hope you have some sunshine this week for a change. Hugs. Pam

I have to say it...that is just too much snow for me. I'm a big chicken, in part because of breaking my ankle when I fell on ice. So, winter weather is not my favorite. I'll admit the snow is pretty, tho. I love your shot of the cardinal in the snow! Don't they just make you smile when you see that beautiful red in winter? Take care, Lynne, and stay safe and warm!

Enjoy this milder week, Lynne. I couldn't agree with you more. Last week was brutal--especially for travelers. Peace and joy as we begin a new week. Go Pack!

Wow you guys got hit pretty hard! I hate, hate winter driving! Today is the first day I have been out since Monday. I am a HUGE Packers fan so todays win was a thrill! Stay warm and keep sharing those beautiful pictures!

Lynne, it does look pretty from inside.. And those temps and the accidents are awful..I feel silly complaining about a few inches, 18 or more is way too much.. I made a garlic roasted cabbage recipe from the internet and it was delicious. Sorry your meatball casserole had to be tossed.. Thank you feeding the birds, I am sure they appreciate the food..Stay warm and safe.. Have a happy Monday!

It certainly was a scary week of weather. I wish we could have spread out that snow starting over Christmas break. Fingers crossed for an easier week ahead, especially for our younger drivers. Beautiful pictures!!

As with all things... the good and the bad sides. I feel for all those suffering with the hardship of this brutal blast... Enduring. It is the perfect word... and I love that in the enduring, you find beauty and grace and peace. May this week find a bit of warmth, too. blessings ~ tanna

Loved your photos Lynne, especially the red cardinal you caught hiding in the the tree. I don't think I could cope with all that snow. I like to see it, but not to live with. hope you are having a respite from it for awhile. Take care on the roads.

Beautiful snow pictures. I, too, have been very worried about all those people caught up in this horrible winter weather.

The photo with the cardinal hiding among the snow covered branches is special.

Snow is so beautiful, but as I am getting older, I am not near as quick to want to get out in it.

WOW that is A LOT of snow - I would be in heaven to be honest lol. And I love the combination of birds and snow :)

If we could have winter without it affecting the roads that would be perfect.

I like snow...from the warm side of the window! Since arriving home, I've stayed close to home. I think I'm still shaking and it took a while to calm down from the drive. It's downright nasty up there...people drive like bats out of hades. Just about the time I would edge up to 35 mph, I'd see a tractor trailer or car in the ditch and I'd easy back down to 30. I'm sure people were cursing me but I did not care...all I wanted was to be safe! Lynne, you be safe; it can, all too quickly, go south.

Beautiful birds!

My goodness, you certainly have received a lot of snow!
I like the beauty and peaceful feeling of snow, but like you, I worry for those that have to work in those conditions, or drive on the slick roads.

Hopefully, you will now get a break from the weather :)

Oh Lynne …… what beautiful snowy photographs and that one of the cardinal in the snow is AMAZING. I love the snow when it has just fallen ….. it is beautiful but, I hate driving in it and don't like it when it becomes sludgy, brown and dirty !!
…. and I love the fact that you've shared a recipe that was less than successful ….. that's real life !! XXXX

Lynne, I agree the photograph of the cardinal is breathtaking. I am thankful you stayed safe. So sad to hear of all the terrible accidents. This weekend is suppose to be somewhat tropical here. Bonnie
