Hodge Podge . . .

My day began this morning by receiving this picture
from my long time friend Barb.
She lives in Pennsylvania and I haven't seen her for a few years.
We go way back to my Wisconsin days.
and even though we seldom see one another,
we are "connected at the hip."

Barb's mother died recently, Barb was going through
some of her things and up popped this picture.
It was taken at my son's wedding 27 years ago,
just about this time of the year.

I loved, loved, loved receiving the email,
finding this photo and our genuine smiles.
A reminder to me to keep smiling always.
The best kind of Infectious!

Remember, I said this would be a bit of hodge podge.

Snickers went back to the vet to
receive her healthy report and get her stitches removed.
She is just fine, nasty cyst but everything is fine.
Here she is waiting for the vet and giving me some of her
 "panting vet wait tongue action!"

Fire Pit #two is ready to go but we are sweltering under
80-90 degree hot, muggy, buggy, yucky, steamy weather.
So you'll have to wait for more pictures.
(Fire Pit #one is ready to go in the woods too.)

Great granddaughter Oakland continues to warm my heart.
Well she pretty much warms all of our hearts.
This picture was taken by her other granny Amy
or maybe her other great granny
or maybe I don't know for sure who took the picture.

And to top things off, I was a Giveaway Winner
"This pinafore apron was made by
a six months short of 95 year old woman
who passed away unexpectedly.
Her daughter was selling the aprons because
"Mother made them and that's what I'm doing."

Sandra wrote the above and announced I was a winner.

Just like Sandra, I would love to hear your apron stories.
I remember my mom always wore her waist apron,
usually one in pink or blue checks,
with some embroidery on it too.

I was going through some old pictures the other day
and found this one from my hospital working days.
Thought I would include it in this
Hodge Podge

Can you believe this year is already into September.
School days are beginning here this next week, some have already begun.

I am a real fan of the old Palmer method of penmanship.
I found this old autograph book at an estate sale a few years back
and thought you'd enjoy the penmanship,
what friends were saying to Julia
and notice the dates too.

and ending with a bit of levity,
Elaine, a college friend of mine,
sent me this blonde joke.
I thought it was a hoot.

Did you hear about the two blondes
who froze to death in a drive in?

They had gone to see
'Closed For The Winter.'
~
Keep Smiling
Keep the laughter flowing.

Thank you for your comments and friendship.
Till Next Time
Love ~ Lynne

Good news all around.

I love this penmanship, very similar to Dad's.

Cute joke.

Certainly enjoyed your "hodgepodge" post. Isn't life just like that?....a hodgepodge of wonderful friends, wonderful memories, wonderful times to look forward to and ofcourse, wonderful pets. My Mother always wore a waist apron, usually checked and embroidered.

Hi Lynne! What a cutie Oakland is, and I'm glad that Snickers is doing great too! And of course, what a treasure that photo is of you and your friend! I think that beautiful penmanship is something we've lost, as is having autograph books -- I still have one from 5th grade, and my Mom's too! :-)

Love the happy smiles on the first pic! Nice surprise! My grandma always wore an apron. Fancier ones for the holidays of course. I have been trying to wear one instead of wiping things on my pants! lol.. Congrats on winning one!

You still have that beautiful smile, Lynne! Isn't it fun to look back? Love the joke and I'm embarrassed to say that I had to read it twice to get it. Can you tell I am a blonde? ;-)

Love seeing the photos from the past. I found an autography book at the Allegan Antique Market last week, but didn't but it because it was $28. A little steep for me.
