A Bit of Green You Say . . .

Nothing like flying over Ireland, getting ready to land
and see the vast hills and valleys of green . . .
Truly no other Green like the Green of Ireland . . .

On one of our trips we searched out Standing Stones and Stone Circles . . .
Getting off the beaten track and hiking the hills . . . the very best indeed . . .
Never know what little bits of ancient history you might find . . .

The top picture was taken in a field of standing stone.
How they moved the stone thousands of years ago
to build their homes, buildings, churches is amazing . . .

If you make a trip to Ireland, visit Newgrange . . .
located a bit north and west of Dublin.
And you will ask yourself the same question . . .
how did they manage to move all the stone . . .
create such a masterpiece . . .

The next two pictures were taken as we were driving about
in the south west near Bantry and Dingle Peninsula.
The flower you see, which blooms everywhere, is called Crocosmia . . .

We love Ireland . . . one day we will return . . .

We are looking forward to a full weekend of Saint Patrick Day events . . .

Happy St. Patrick's Day & Weekend . . .
Slainte' . . .

Love ~
Lynne

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through

Oh, that green! I truly understand why it's called Emerald Isle.
"When Erin first rose from the dark swelling flood,
God bless'd the green island and saw it was good;
The em'rald of Europe, it sparkled and shone,
In the ring of the world the most precious stone."
(From William Drennen's poem "When Erin First Rose")
Happy St. Patrick's Day, Lynne. xo

I would love to visit Ireland (and Wales). My parents visited both and they enjoyed them so much. They did the Ring of Kerry and said it was wonderful. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I've never been to Ireland, but my brother in law did for work and came home with a daze in his eyes when he talked about the green coloring there, I see it in your photos....
They are beautiful. I still like the gentle slower pace of blogging. I'm glad you follow me....I love following your blog too. I've missed it.
