Merry Christmas . . .

Snowless in Michigan . . .
A few days ago I blew leaves and brought the tractor out again and mowed leaves . . .
Unbelievable weather . . .

Christmas Eve is fast approaching and a green Christmas it will be.
I remember a green Christmas back years ago and then tons of snow arrived.
I hope that happens again . . .
I love the snow . . . walking in it, watching it fall, and years ago . . . skiing in it.
Loved, loved those days!

This is what it looked like last year about now . . .

I have been cutting greens, decorating, cooking, baking . . .

Many Christmas and holiday touches have appeared around our home.
Like my mother’s Hummel Nativity.
She purchased each piece individually, in the sixties, from Germany, each piece a mere nine, ten dollars.
Bringing these carefully wrapped, Hummel pieces out each year and arranging them on this lovely cloth,
which was gifted to me by my late husbands mother, is one of my first happenings of the season . . .

I like the Hummel Angels that she gifted me as well.

And the felted ornaments she made, like this one, with my grandmothers pearls . . .

Shiny Brights fill the tree and some travel memory ornaments, plus many others . . .
Love the stories and memories our tree brings . . .

Tiny corners, with tiny touches . . .

I am a saver, and fill my tree with tiny birds and nests . . .

Tiny cards with special wishes from a friend . . .

And this card from a teacher friend from my first year of teaching, 1961 . . .
with a poem, “Touch Hands . . . “ which was written by a family member of hers . . .

This pencil drawing of my brothers on the mantle is a forever treasure . . .
a drawing he did of “Christmas at Lynne’s” . . . in ‘94.

We tried a self timer picture this year . . . over and over . . . nothing worked.
Mister Irish looked sleepy, Snickers gave up . . .

Better luck the next day . . . with Mister Irish missing part of his head . . .
I knew he had had it . . . with the picture thing, when he said . . . “it’s a wrap!”

Yesterday, the twenty second, we were all together here.
What a wonderful day . . .
What joy it was to hear our home bustling with family . . .

Our great grands discovered what fun it was to play together,
slide down the stairs on their rumps, run and play, laugh, giggle . . . music to our ears!

Thank you for visiting . . .
Thank you for friendship . . .
Wishing You . . .

Wishing you a very merry Christmas, too Lynn. We were "snowless" after losing much of our snow, but this morning, it is snowing again. Perhaps you will get some snow in the end! I think the picture of you two turned out well! -Jenn

I love this post too, Lynne. So heartfelt & true the "Ah, friends, dear friends" saying is. Your Nativity & Hummel angels are beautiful and your family day get-together so special. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you, Jack & Snickers.

P.S. We have a dusting of snow here so it is mostly white. Yay!

I love snow, too - but white Christmas or not, your home looks like a beautiful place to enjoy the holiday - so many festive touches! It's wonderful your family was able to get together to celebrate Christmas - and how much fun to watch the great grandkids enjoying each other!

I honestly can live without the snow. It makes taking the puppy out for exercise so much easier without it. Plus 40 degree days at the beach are awesome. But...I do know it will come.

Oh, Lynne! Everything in this post sets my heart a warming! Your wonderful arrangements of nature's beauty, the great photo of you three and your grands too. And those holiday treasures -- the magnificent Hummel nativity and angels, the beautiful and treasured ornaments. They tell your story, your life. And each holiday is a revisit to all those treasured times and friendships.

It couldn't be more lovely.

I wish you all good wishes as I catch up with you and others here after a few days off the grid. Wishing you the best of the rest of the holiday season and wonderful new year. We will meet in 2019. My resolution!

There are so many lovely things in your post. The poem that is framed, the sketch of Christmas at Lynne's, and the Hummel nativity. I did not know they made those. Happy New Year to you.
