Springtime Surprise . . .

The wind gusts tried again and again
to undo the leaf, stick cleanup we tried
to accomplish today.

We kept at it though, 99% of 2020 spring cleanup is finished.
In my final minutes of hauling leaves onto the path leading into the woods,
I looked up, right at eye level, I saw this perfectly constructed bird nest.

I called “Mister Irish” to come look.
He was just enough taller to peek inside the nest
and he held up four fingers.
We were like a couple of kids, with the best surprise ever.
It made our day.

He ran for the phone for pictures.
Such perfection these four gems
and isn’t that blue color just the best!
I sure hope momma has returned to her nest
to warm those babies up!

I am sure you have heard me say
many a time
its the little things.

Thank you for visiting and commenting.

The photo of the blue eggs in the perfect nest is stunning. Well done! I agree that it's the "little things", which after all aren't so very little. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Lynne. Hugs, Nancy

ohhh how I miss nest in my garden. For some reason the birds are either too well hidden or too high - or just not here. We also have too many cuckoo and pie (pee a type of blue birdish bird) that are mean to the tiny little birds. Thank you for sharing that jolt of color that is so amazing and delightful!
be safe - keep your head down

Good evening, Lynne. I love your find! Do you think the Mama of those eggs is a robin? Enjoy watching the babies later. Stay safe, stay well, sending hugs!

What an exciting find - I can imagine feeling like a kid, again, gazing at the nest and eggs. I hope mama bird came back! It’s been a nice weekend for yard work - we’ve been doing the same. It feels good to get outdoors and just putter around the yard.

Total perfection. Isn't that color the most magnificent blue? I love it more than almost any other color, I think. That photo is a gem -- I'd keep my eye on that spot if I were you! Who knows what fun things you'll soon see!

Such a pick me up! I never seen the eggs in my robin's nests as they are usually made high in the rafters of my patio ceiling. But I do get to see the little squirts chirping and opening their beaks to the sky!

Times are hard for so many and in so many ways. I'm blessed and healthy, but we are all entitled to complain a little! Like you, I always have full jars of all my favorite and much used grains, beans, dried pasta, and some canned goods like tomatoes. It would take a lot for us to starve! I just miss fresh foods but that's an incentive to plant more in the garden. Had to laugh about the kids sliding down the carpet of your stairs! They always come up with new antics!!! Can't wait for the day I can hug and kiss them and my own children.

Sending love and hugs,

Jane 😘

Lynne, I am so happy to have found your blog. I'm really interested in your Ireland adventures. I have some myself, some I've written about but many more that I haven't. I hope you get your little cottage in Ireland one day.
I live in the UK but my heart lives in dear ol' Eire.
