“Raining Cats and Dogs . . . “

IT RAINED
bunches
and we got flooded
downstairs, basement, family room,
laundry, Jack’s “collect all” work room.
A mess . . . caught us completely off guard.
Neighbors had been having some water issues,
they phoned us to see how we were.
I had been up and downstairs off and on Wednesday
until four or after and NO problems for us.
I went downstairs after my neighbor friend called at 8:00 PM
and my bare feet hit the carpet with a squish.

We had two pumps, one for the laundry area plus the other area.
We would check it every once in awhile, felt fortunate that we had had no water.
BUT, the second pump malfunctioned!
and thirty years later, a flood!
Plus, what with the rain and our out of site water table
across Western Michigan
we all are having problems!

We have had people here pumping water,
plus purchased a new pump, have had it installed
and it has been running since!
Insurance persons have been here,
we are scheduled with service people for clean up/protection.
We have decided to remove all carpeting pad and replace with new,
after we have been dried out and have the all clear from the service pros.

My daughter and I emptied, sorted a large china hutch yesterday.
(It was a piece of furniture my mother purchased for me
many years ago and it was filled with several of her collections.)
What a job that was.  Sorted through, filled totes with
pieces I wanted, my daughters pieces and totes filled with
things to sell, give away or go to resale places.
The pictures tell the story!

We have taken a few breaks to enjoy the springtime sunshine and sights!

Thank you for visiting.
Snickers and I will be back soon with chapter #2!

‘til then
love
lynne

Oh no, not something you would want to deal with at this time (or any time). Hope everything is settled in a timely fashion. Not the way you would have wanted to clean house or redecorate.

I'm so sorry to read about your basement flood, Lynne. OMG, what a mess but it sounds like you & Mr. Irish have things under control. Best wishes for a dry, redecorated basement soon. Hugs!

Oh Lynne -- I've lived the water thing and I know it is terrible. But worse, in your case, I think, with the carpet and all. (Mine is just a storage basement and I was lcky this time.) Oh, what a mess and I so feel for you with the clean-up. Last thing one needs.

You have been so productive. I will leave this quarantine (if I ever leave this quarantine) with a messy house and little to show for it but a lot of reading, blogging and baking!

Sending you big, giant hugs!
I'm so sorry that you've been having water issues, and I hope that things will dry out and stay dried out for you.

That hutch is gorgeous, and I'm so glad that your daughter was able to help you both out with the sorting and organizing.

Warm wishes..
~K.

Oh no... I’ve been there and it was not fun! But - good comes from it too. You’ve got that cabinet all sorted through and you’ll likely make a few updates that you didn’t even know you wanted, but will love all the same. I wish you luck dealing with all this and getting everything set back up. Hopefully no more rains like that for another 30 years!

Lynne- I am so sorry that you have had so much water damage. We have it once quite bad--and once when it was horrible...but both clean=ups ere a huge mess.
Good for you for sorting things out. I have been going through 'collections' since we moved and what a job it is. I have given my kids anything they want, sold some stuff and took tons to Goodwill. I hope you have a wonderful, blessed Mother's Day. xo Diana

Oh so much work. We had a water issue here while we were kicking up our heels in Texas. Our nice hardwood floor took a beating. But if money can fix it we are still blessed.
