To Market, To Market . . .

To buy a fat pig.

No Pig For Me

instead
some delicious vegetables

Along with some memories
from my teaching days and
nursery rhymes
with my children.

~ ~ ~

To market, to market, to buy a fat pig.
Home again, home again, jiggety jig.

To market, to market, to buy a fat hog.
Home again, home again, jiggety jog.

To market, to market, to buy a plum bun.
Home again, home again, the market is done.

One advantage I think I might have
being part of the more vintage age
is my storehouse of books and memorabilia.

I went looking for my
Real Mother Goose book
and look what I found.
Not my book at all,
instead a Christmas gift from my mom
 to my son Scott.

My mom's handwriting, 1965.

Memories are Delicious too!

I have that same book! The veggies look so delicious. I have been roasting up tons of veggies since this cooler weather arrived.

What a wonderful keepsake! My Grandmother used to recite and sing the old nursery rhymes to me when I was a little girl. This was back around 1960..ouch. Goodness how time flies...thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories!

Dear Lynne,
There's nothing nicer than a whole lot of fresh veggies, is there ?
....and, how lovely to still have that nursery rhyme book from your mum to your son with the dedication in the front. Memories indeed.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment yesterday. It means a lot. XXXX

Hi Lynne, Seeing your Mom's handwriting reminded me of my own Mom's hand, when handwriting was a skill and a practiced art. I never learned to write like them, but I love seeing something beautifully handwritten. Thanks for sharing! Love, Penny
