Home Again, Home Again . . .

The day began early on Friday . . . we had a scheduled appointment
at the vet for Snickers to get her teeth cleaned.

These have been the names of my dogs,
Penny, Goldie, Buffy, Taffy, Poncho, Dog From Hell, Ginger, Snickers.

And Snickers is the first dog I have had who has had her teeth cleaned.

Now  . . . I have been told that smaller dogs have a need
to have their teeth cleaned more than larger dogs
and that might be true, but I think another reason
might be that there are those who are very convincing
that teeth cleaning is the thing to do for princess sized dogs.
Not naming names or anything.

Sorry about that little side bar, I got off track.

As I said, we were scheduled and we had to have her at the vet
between 8-8:30 on Friday morning.
We were there on time and bid our goodbyes
just as any doting parents would do.
hugs kisses and more hugs and kisses

Initially we were told she would be ready after three
or so depending how long it took her to awaken from the sedative.

I received a call around 12:30 from the vet saying that he had had
an emergency and Snickers teeth cleaning had been delayed
AND if he went ahead and cleaned her teeth,
she might not awaken enough after that
AND she might have to spend the night.
OR, we could come and pick her up and reschedule her for another time.

WELL . . . I decided it was best to go ahead and
risk that she might have to spend the night in the
Vet Hotel.
Why reschedule and go through the whole
not being able to eat before, etc., etc.

So we paced and paced and around five o'clock
we called and found out she was going to be staying the night.

Funny sight the two of us, we didn't know what to do
with ourselves with our princess not home.
Can you believe it!
(I bet you can!)

We rallied before too long and went out for dinner
and survived just fine . . . sorta, kinda, not so much.
 ~
We were all showered, dressed, ready to go
to pick her up at nine o'clock sharp this morning
and off we went . . .

and after paying for the teeth cleaning
out came our little gem.

You should have heard her, it almost choked us up,
she was yipping and crying like never before.
Jack could hardly hold on to her.
We got her harness on and out the door we went.
She had "some business" to take care of and before long we were on our way home.

no doubt about it, she likes it best at home
some kind of tongue action going on
maybe sticking out her tongue at that teeth cleaning stuff
see those little white teeth
she opened her mouth so pretty for you all
REALLY . . . are you going to do that to me ever again?
why would you do that, I am as sweet as can be
I think I need a nap
shhhhhhhh

ZZZZZZZZZZ
most of the day
~
Northside Veterinary Hospital
Muskegon, Michigan
Dr. Peterson
plus the other vets and staff
treated our Snickers perfectly.
We thank you for your care and compassion
and patience with us as doting parents.
~.
That's it for today,
'til next time.
Love, Lynne

i'd have been stressed, too. they are our babies, and when i can't have them home where they feel secure, i don't really rest, either. glad she made it through okay and hopefully won't have any stomach upsets from it.

Big trauma! Our cairns are the same, and have always needed teeth-cleaning, despite all the bones, chewy toys etc. I'm glad that all ended well, with a nap!

My goodness, poor Snickers.... even if it was for her own good :)

I had to smile at the list of dog names that you posted :)
We have had a "Taffy" and a "Dog from Hell" too, among all of the dogs we've had.

We need to get Rowdy's teeth cleaned, but I've been putting it off.. I don't think I could bear leaving him at the vets. He'd never forgive me, I'm afraid......

So glad that Snickers and Mom and Dad are reunited again **smile**.

love,
K.

Aw, such a little sweetie. Glad she is back where she belongs. Funny how all your other dogs did okay without teeth cleaning. I have very mixed emotions about all the "stuff" they feel they need to do with our pets these days. Hmmm.

I thought I was the only one that ever had a canine named Dog from Hell.
Nice to know that name has been around a few times.

Good Afternoon Lynne, Oh you poor things, I do understand how you feel as we had a lovely little King Charles spaniel called Chloe who was part of our life for a long time. She did not mind the vets but she hated getting a 'wash and brush up' the minute she arrived home, she would roll in the grass and get covered in grass.
Snickers is the most adorable little dog and I am glad she was not away from you for too long. I can see she needed that well earned snooze.... did you have a snooze as well?
Best Wishes to you.

.

I tried to leave a link a bit ago and apparently it didn't take. Not sure what I did wrong.

Anyway, these pets of ours are our babies and we love them...and they love us. Yours sure looks adorable.

For a fun read: http://mrsnesbittsplace.blogspot.com/search/label/Vets

And then go to Amazon and look up the book Oogy, The Dog Only a Family Could Love. That is if you like to read.

It is never easy to take a precious pet to the vet.

Awww, she's so cute. Love the pictures of her. And I can imagine how you must have felt since she wasn't home that night. Even though you knew she was fine, one night without our pets is one night too much :)

It was a big stress for your dog.

Definitely not worth going through the whole not eaten thing again. Best to just get it done.

There's no place like home!
I'm glad her cleaning went well. My in-laws little dog had a not-so-good experience with teeth cleaning & dental work. Not good at all. I won't go into that. Just glad Snickers is home & happy, and with a pretty smile!
I'm curious about this Dog from Hell.. :)
