Summer Weekend . . .
friday night walleye was just one part
of our great summery weekend
the weather has been cool to warm
beautiful summery days and eve's
sunday eve we walked the
North Muskegon channel out to Lake Michigan
snickers joined us
and she insisted walking on that narrow curb
just her right size i suppose
silly little doggie she can be
as we walked the channel,
we saw a family of ducks
male, female and their ducklings
the three little ones
were tucked up under the large boulders
as we walked the channel
snickers pulled us off on one of the sand trails
up into the dunes
we climbed
up to the top
where we could see the vastness of
Lake Michigan
tucked into the dune
there was someone else enjoying
the warmth and view
snickers pulled mister irish
back to the car
it was a full moon evening as we drove home
I see the moon
the moon sees me
up there over the apple tree
(i used to sing that to my children)
i haven't a camera to catch great shots of the moon
one day when i grow up maybe
i'll get a big girl camera
until then
iphone or pad for my pics
standing in the road in front of our house
i was able to get this midnight shot of the moon

wife to her handsome partner,
living out their dream at
Lindenberry Farm
Chicks In a Row
If you haven't visited
Bee haven Acres
you are missing out.
There is no one else like her.

Todd and Friends
Inspiring to say the least.
Living out their dream in the countryside

Tuckered Out . . .
I've been receiving plenty of attention the past few days.
Mom and Pop put this bright orange/red shirt on me yesterday,
because "moms and pops" took me to the vet on Friday
to have this big bump like thingy taken off my leg.
Mom and Pop are all worried about it but I am just fine!
My Vet guy said he thought it should come off, so off I went early Friday morning.
I didn't like it there very much and for goodness sake I was there all day long.
I thought I was just going to get in there and outta there lickity split
but they cleaned my teeth too I guess.
I was sleeping pretty good
and didn't notice that teeth cleaning at all.
I did notice a few things when I woke up though
like how I wasn't walking quite right and my leg was really wobbly.
My pop thought I seemed kind of tipsy . . .
I settled into sleeping and cuddling right away and
made sure I had a comfy spot to watch some TV.
Then we all settled in for the night.
I felt fine in the morning but "moms" freaked all out
when I started licking my leg like crazy.
So that is why she went and got that three month old
orange princess shirt to wear.
Those long sleeves have made it impossible for me
to do my cleaning and checking.
Not sure why she got so crazy worried,
I was taught long ago to take care of myself!
The best thing is, my "moms" keeps giving me a tiny piece of bread
with peanut butter on it, . . . every few hours or so.
Not sure what that is all about.
I don't think I have ever had peanut butter before.
Kinda yummy.

"What do you say, Percy?
I am thinking of sitting out on the sand
to watch the moon rise.
Full tonight.
So we go
and the moon rises, so beautiful it
makes me shudder, makes me think about
time and space, makes me take
measure of myself: one iota
pondering heaven.
So we go
and the moon rises, so beautiful it
makes me shudder, makes me think about
time and space, makes me take
measure of myself: one iota
pondering heaven.
Thus we sit,
I am thinking how grateful I am for the moon’s
perfect beauty and also, oh!
I am thinking how grateful I am for the moon’s
perfect beauty and also, oh!
How rich it is to love the world.
Percy, meanwhile,
leans against me and
leans against me and
gazes up into my face.
As though I were his perfect moon."
"A dog can never tell you what she knows
from the smells of the world, but you know,
watching her, that you know almost nothing. . ."

"What would the world be like without music
or rivers or the green and tender grass?
or rivers or the green and tender grass?
What would this world be like without dogs?"

"I had to go away for a few days
so I called the kennel and made an appointment.
I guess Bear overheard the conversation.
"Love and company," said Bear,
"are the adornments that change everything.
I know they’ll be nice to me, but I’ll be sad, sad, sad."
And pitifully he wrung his paws.
I cancelled the trip."

a tip for small dogs, ten pounds and under
when having surgery on their legs
a 0-3 month long sleeve night shirt keeps them
from licking the sutures/surgery site
and a soft white bread, in the size of a pea,
with some peanut butter
works perfectly for giving antibiotics and
pain medicine in pill form
of course . . . you already knew this didn't you
~ ~ ~
Snickers is back to her usual self . . . almost!
thank you for following, commenting and caring

I'm Smiling . . .
Neighbors East of us, whom we had never met . . .
(We had met their three dogs though that yip and bark
each time we walk into the woods behind our house.)
Neighbors pulled into our driveway late yesterday
and asked if we had seen two of their dogs . . .
They scooted out I guess when the chain link gate was opened . . .
They were so distressed, we felt terrible
and told them we would look for them while on our evening walks.
.
(Jack knows . . . my worse fear ever that that could happen to us with Snickers.)
Fast forward to this morning, I was out walking Snickers
and this little red truck pulls up beside me
and the VERY happy neighbor says,
"I found them!"
There they were shivering and looking a bit guilty in the front seat of the truck,
two "wandering, scruffy, schnauzers," who were found more than two miles away.
I guess they were just sitting there in a front lawn next to each other when he saw them.
I wish I had some pictures to show you . . . I will try and get some.

(Busy days for us, we are getting ready for a family reunion gathering here on Sunday.)

Masses of Pine Siskin flew in to the thistle feeder yesterday
. The feeder is just off to a corner of the screened in porch,
wrong place for picture taking.
So I scrunched myself up over the kitchen sink to try and get some pictures.
At first I thought they were sparrows but I brought out my
trusty Peterson Field Guide to Birds, and read up on the Pine Siskin.
This often used book was 1976 birthday gift from my mom.,
Her written signature is on the inside cover.
The faint yellow subtle streak and other markings
convinced me that I had Pine Siskin visitors.
The more petite size was a "telling point" too.
It is such fun watching them and listening to "their tweeting and twitter."
I have filled the thistle feeder twice in the past twenty four hours
as well as filling the other thistle feeder near the front of the house.
The temperatures turned very cool on Tuesday, we were in the 40-50 range,
maybe that is why the sudden visit.
Here are some quick unedited photos for you.
Moments like this make me very happy . . .
doggies back home, singing birds, springtime days.
Hummers are back too!
Happy Springtime My Friends

How About A Y'all . . .
she has this head thing going on
listening to what I am saying
back and forth goes her head
I think someone else is playing copy cat too
or would that be,
copy dog
cute little thing isn't she
looks like a pup
but she is almost ten years old
she gives us many happy moments in each of our days
(sorry about that license tag giving a bit of a shinny glow)
~
Well, well, well . . . have you missed me?
My IGH guy and I have been traveling through
snow, rain, sleet, ice
plus double and triple that
a hundred times over
when we managed to drive
through the horrendous ice storm that hit
Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas
and a few other states to boot!.
WOW WHEW YIKES
suffice it to say
it was the worst weather either of us
have ever been in
we made it through
and we won't take off traveling again
until we get a clear sailing report from the weather man.
I promise some bird, fence, critter sunset and
sightseeing trip pictures very soon.
Until then, enjoy these pictures of our little princess.
We are enjoying sunny and warm days in
south Texas plus a few cool and not so sunny days too.
I'll be back
tomorrow or the next.
Until then
Y'all have a good one!
Love . . .

Woof Woof . . .
Woof Woof There
did you hear about our
early. . . really early . . . very early
SNOW FALL IN MICHIGAN
nothing like the Buffalo area
but we've been having bitter cold and very snowy weather here for days.
I think I'll just sit here and help papa read the paper.
The Junco's and Finches have arrived in droves.
The Cardinals and Mourning Doves
are making sure they get their fair share of the eats!
Especially because of Mister Red Squirrel hogging the feeders.
My momma was busy this morning fixing the lights
on the twenty year old recycled tree
and dragging it out through the snow
for its spot near the garden house.
I am happy that tree lives in the garden house and not inside with me.
I think I will sit here on the window ledge and check out the snowy sights.
bird bath bowl is turned on its side for the winter.
I hope some of the wood side critters crawl in there to keep warm.
no bench sitting these days
Doesn't the sculpture look cool with a snow hat
.
Still snowing out there
but the weather man says
there will be rain in just a few days.
really, really confusing isn't it
Mom goes to painting class again tonight
unless it gets cancelled.
She seems to like this painting thing
almost more than holding and cuddling me.
Momma says,
see you in a few.
Love, Snickers
